Do you prefer acrylics or wools? Cotton or mohair? Is there a brand specifically that you like the best?

Acrylics tend to be what I usually work with, although my absolute fave would be a wool/acrylic blend...

My favourite type of yarn is called Galaxy by (I think) Bernat.... it's so colourful and chunky... very awesome. It's a great blend of different kinds of yarns, and everyone that I've knit gifts with it for LOVES the texture.

My all time fave is Henry's Attic organic cotton Inca yarn. It is the best ever. It holds dyes well. The only drawback is the cost but it is so luxurious!

Yarns nowadays are so flippin' expensive! Sheesh! I mean, it's excellent that there's a wicked variety, but OMG with some things it's cheaper to go out and buy the ready made item at the mall than to buy the yarn to knit it with!

my favorite is a recycled silk i order from patternworks.com. it's so-o-o expensive but i really like it. i've started shopping the local flea markets and thrift shops for some. thanks for the idea about getting smoke smell out. plus i've passed the word around to friends and family if they are getting rid of yarn, old sweaters, anything made of yarn to recycle, send it my way.
