yes they probably can. cannabinoid receptors are common in animals, and have been found in mammals, birds, fish, and reptiles!

My girlfriend got a parakeet stoned one time. It just kinda panicked and flew headfirst into the tv and killed itself.

birds are among the last things that should ever be kept as pets. keeping a bird in a cage is just about one of the cruelest things that can be done to an animal short of physically hurting it; keeping them inside a house or an apartment is almost as bad.

and if you clip it's wings i hope, in all honesty, that you in turn break your legs...

are you kidding me? we're talking about animals designed to not live underground, or restricted to certain parts of the woods or water...we're talking about animals designed to enjoy all the sky as their environment and literally all the world is open to them in nature.....putting a human being in jail is harsh, but a jail cell is still a room like most others when all is said and done. a cage, to a bird, is worse than a jail cell to a human, worse than a cage to a lion....a cage is to a bird, who travels in many more directions than us, more akin to putting a human or a lion in a box and locking it shut.

clipping a birds wings is a method of "grooming" the feathers in such a way as to prevent the bird from being able to fly properly. people have realized that birds, when kept as pets, seem to have the most curious habit of flying off - often trying to escape through tragically closed windows, or hurting themselves in the process. people obviously can't figure out that the reason birds try to escape is because they are not happy to stay indoors, let alone in a cage. the solution: mangling the wings (in a stylish fashion) in order to prevent them from flying off. apparently they can get a little bit of air, but not enough to sustain regular flight.

clipping a wings is like breaking the legs of a person or lang animal, or cutting the tails or fins off of sea creatures....

keeping birds as pets is just plain fucked up, and clipping wings is moreso.

i already hate the fact that he feels its his right to keep such an animal as a pet, but while i can condemn the arrogance and thoughtlessness of the actions i do not have grounds to say he is a bad person; however if he DOES pursue the practice of clipping a birds wings, then he is simply a cruel person, and i don't think it's wrong to secretly entertain the idea of random, cosmological poetic justice, even if i'm not a violent person.

on top of that, i've even heard of small mammals (pet rodents) dying from having a bit too much smoke blown at them. just because it doesnt kill us and just because "one time" another similar animal didn't die from it doesn't mean it's not still bad for them. birds are far more different from us than our symbiotic mammal species like birds and cats....we can't really communicate with them well at all, and their behavior is much harder to read. remember you're discussing drugging an animal for your own entertainment; because you cannot easily divine the mood or enjoyment of a bird, you have NO idea what it's feeling or if it likes it, and you may well be hurting it. the bird certainly isn't getting any say in this.

its generally safe to smoke with a grown dog or cat; and they can leave the area if they don't like the smoke and by their behavior (which is very expressive and familiar to us) you can generally tell if a particular dog or cat enjoys it. they learn what causes the change quickly, and they will essentially let you know whether they like it or not, in a nonverbal fashion of course.

birds on the other hand....may act "fucked up," but there will be no indication whether its in agony or if its enjoying it or just plain confused. either way, its not done for the enjoyment of the bird, its so a sick person can get a cheap laugh by drugging an animal.

I have a cockatiel, It likes getting high, it even tries to eat my weed. Every mornign when I wake and bake both my bird and my cat come over to the table. I get pissed at the bird sometimes though cuase it tries to eat my weed then it'll fly away and blow it all over the table. But it acts liek an idiot when its high, it fly's around and runs into walls and talks alot.
