    no one's mentioned pirates yet??!

what did you guys think? i just saw it a couple of hours ago... i thought it was pretty good. it lived up to my personal expectations, plenty of swashbuckling, and pirate cliches, mythical sea monsters, twisted love, romance, the undead (which makes just about any movie a hit, right?) A REALLY FUCKING AWESOME COUPLE SCENES IN THE BAYOU!!!! holy crap, i don't know why i loved how they portrayed that... something about fireflies, swampiness, and really sexy/grotesque women doing crazy things with jars of gods-know-what.

(and men holding knives in their teeth...)

could have done w/out the cannibalism thing it didn't really seem to "fit"... and i must say at times it was a tad zaney for my liking.

    but i still liked it...

    thoughts?

I saw the show last night in my costume, and I gotta tell you. These people wouldn't leave me alone thinking I was johnny depp himself. They wanted autographs, but I never sign for anyone else.
I was like well I'm not him, and laughed, and said how do you want me to sign it. They said my real name. So I did. It was awesome. Even some gangster dudes were like wow man tight, you look just like him!, can we get a picture? lol and it was cool. Here is what I looked like. Costume wasn't exact at all, but my face made up for it. I even included a pic without the makeup on so you can see the real person behind it. What a blast!

i would have to agree with the overall "sex appeal" of pirates. the movies, etc. swashbuckling in general :) old sinbad movies and everything included. (my brother sails on replica tall ships and participates in "living history sailing." one of the ships he sails on is called the Lady Washington, and in the P1 it was the same ship that was used for the ship that jack "borrows" in the beginning. anyway...)

what did people think of tia dalma ("voodoo" lady)????? i hear that she is going to have a larger part in P3 and i can't WAIT! she was so awesome...

i was thinking, though... P2 reminded me A LOT of Monkey Island. (that really rad pc adventure game) commodore looked almost identical to guybrush, there was the obligitory "voodoo lady." jack escaped his fate in a floating coffin, similar to guybrush in monkey2, of course there are the cannibals, but also... in P2's take of davey jones, he was the way he was because of his lost love, and blah blah blah... and the writhing beard...? ...is anyone else reminded of the evil pirate LeChuck and his evil army of the undead???

    aye!

i don't know. my dad made a good point though, all these things are sort just pirate-story stereotypes :) even so, monkey island/P2 thoughts???

    i liked it.

i thought it dragged on for a while, but i was entertained.

however, i've never seen the first one, so i don't really have much to compare it too.

God,was this movie long or what? It was highly entertaining but at times there was just too much going at once to take it all in. Such a huge production.

A lot like the first one, about a 1/4 of the way into it,I lost track of what the story was & it just turned into a fantasy theme park ride at Disneyland (which is what it is based on). Johnny Depp is beyond fantastic though.

I liked it, but it went on for far too long. It was also darker than I would have liked. I preferred the lighter, more fun, first film.

really? i liked how this one was more dark, in fact, i almost wish it were MORE dark. i even thought it could have been a lot less zaney, and a little more full of subtle humor, rather than the more slap-stick style that it seemed to posess. :) i really need to see the first one again though, i hardly remember everything that happened in it.

i was so happy to see geoffrey rush and the end though, even if it was only for a few seconds! i love that man! :)

I could not really understand the movie, I felt like a 3 year old, too much action, too many weird things happening, the voices, the search, I love the special effects but overall, I have to watch it again to see if I can understand it better than I did the first part which in my opinion was just as good, a B+ I say. What I can definatelly don't understand is why is the number one opening week seller of all times, no way. You have to agree with me on this

yeah i know what you mean, Pinkytoes. I thought the movie was hilarious because of Johnny Depp's part. The ending was very confusing for me. I think I'll have to see the movie again to understand it better.

On a similar subject, did anyone here listen to the soundtrack for DMC? I listened to a few pieces from the soundtrack. I liked some more than others. But I was really impressed with how Zimmer composed all these peices for the movie. if you guya have heard it, what are your thoughts on it?

Wow, I loved it...and because there was so much going on...it didn't seem that long to me.

I actually liked it better than the first one...and I'm not much for sequels, really.

Anyway, I love Johnny Depp in these movies...he makes me laugh so hard...and he's got the character down to perfection :)

Can't wait for the next one!
