JOHN SINCLAIR is still alive, and smoking herb, in Amsterdam. He wasn't at this year's ANNUAL ANN ARBOR HASH BASH, but he was there last year. If you want to see some pictures of John Sinclair at an ANN ARBOR HASH BASH (from about 3 years ago) go to the GLOWB website: www.glowb.org and click PHOTOS, or directly: www.glowb.org/photos.php. GLOWB is the band that John Sinclair is associated with, when he recites his poems at the HASH BASH. I found a picture of myself, with John Sinclair, on that photo page (the photo with a blue tent in the lower-bottom corner): www.glowb.org/newpics2/IMGP1390.JPG. I'm in the top-center of the photo, wearing a blue hooded sweater, over a yellowish WOODSTOCK cap and a WOODSTOCK blue jeans jacket, with my head hidden in the metal girder. Where's WOODSTOCK WALDO? John Sinclair is the guy on stage with a black beret, grey beard, black jacket and grey pants. He's still alive!

WAVY GRAVY (Hugh Romney), who was the psychedelic clown of WOODSTOCK 1969 is still around. I think he still lives near San Francisco, CA. On the HOGG FARM? He is the host of HIPPIEFEST 2006, which is on August 27th (6:30 PM) at Pine Knob Music Theater (NW of Pontiac, MI). I would love to go there and see him in person. LINK: www.wavygravy.net

Dr. Albert Hoffmann, the inventor of LSD, celebrated his 100th birthday this year, and is still around! He was the first LSD tripper and lived to be 100!!!

There are still many more living, however sadly, some are taking dirt naps. Now continue this list.

    Peace and Love

I try to see it as more of the icons reaps their rewards on the other side and the 'pricks' have to stay here and suffer their karma

"All these people that you mention,

Yes, I know them, they're quite lame,

I have to re-arrange their faces,

And give them all another name.

    ................................

They all blow on the penny-whistle,

    Maybe you know their name:

If you lean outside far enough from Desolation Row."

There are the illusions (of SPACE, TIME and SELF), that the SELF is seperate from the INFINITE, that TIME is LINEAR and that SPACE is LIMITED. In actuality, the SELF is connected to the INFINITE (in our "holographic universe"), TIME is ETERNAL and SPACE is INFINITE. "Heaven" and "Hell" are mere "temporary" mental constructs, to teach us spiritiual lessons. No matter how good "Heaven" could be, after an eternity, it would get boring, quickly!

In QUANTUM PHYSICS: THERE IS NO BEGINNING AND NO END, ONLY CHANGE.

Only constant changing can help us endure an eternity. People who have had enlightening psychedelic experiences, report perceiving time as the ETERNAL NOW. The "past" and "future" are mere directions in a holographic-time universe. In your 3rd-dimensional car, you go "foward" or "reverse". In a time machine you go "past" or "future". These are mere directions in a 4th-dimensional "hyper-space". "Time-lines" are mere "roads" we travel on. KARMA is a "yin-yang" balancing mechanism, as we travel through space-time. "You reap, what you sow." The universe balances itself. It is a type of "oscillation", with postive and negative cycles switching back and forth.

We are COSMIC TRAVELERS, traveling through an infinite space, for an eternal amount of time. The journey never ends, as it never began! It always was! We just have "experiences" and learn spiritual lessons, forever. We can spiritually evolve in a given created universe, but when this "bubble universe" has served its purpose, or becomes "boring", a totally new and different "bubble universe" will be created by universal consciousness. We are mere fragmented pieces of universal consciousness, interacting to itself. As a human body we are a whole, but on a cellular level, we are fragmented into billions of seperate cells, which is further fragmented into molecules, than atoms, and so forth, but all connected together in the highest level of "hyper space-time", or even in "beyond space-time".

Many view EARTH as a spirtual trap, or prison. A possible endless time-loop. Through reincarntion and karma, we learn spiritual lessons., but we can evolve above this trap, and escape it. THE TRUTH CAN SET YOU FREE!!! But then, you just enter a "higher level" of "experiences" and spiritual lessons. Is it so bad to live forever? Although this "life" may take many different energy forms.

Some Native Americans have the belief that, "You are born with a certain number in your hand (of years, or even of seconds or minutes of time, you are to live on Earth)". When this number is reached - you die! It is related to one's spiritual lessons to be learned. "Pricks" numbers may be higher, as they may be "slow spiritual learners". Extremely "fast spiritual learners" may die early!

Take the COSMIC JOURNEY and enjoy THE COSMIC DANCE!!! It is forever and be glad for it.

    Peace and love

I disagree with nothing CosmicDust says. Most of it is correct.

However, I knew Wavy Gravy (Hugh Romney) before Woodstock. Me and A.J. Weberman-- the Garbolioist (sp.) and Dylanologist-- ate breakfast together one long-ago morning in the East Village in 1967. He was a "normal" dude off-camera-- a little weird, but weren't we all back then-- and his favorite song was "Respect", by Aretha Franklin, which he kept playing from the booth-mounted selector.

Yes, he was wearing his strange "jumpsuit".

I forget who paid for the three breakfasts, I think we paid for ourselves.

That is an interesting list of the living 'Who's Who'.
I would mention that Country Joe McDonald is still active in protest politics & runs a very informative Website:www.countryjoe.com

Barry Melton is a State Prosecutor somewhere.
Wavy Gravy once said in an interview that he 'gesticulated' with Charles Manson over something;before the August 1969 slayings & 'So grateful that Charles Manson didn't take it personal'.
Sadly, well I feel so: Abbie Hoffman is no longer with us.(Nobody can forget 'The Yippies' antics.Equally nobody forgets Pete Townshend pushing Abbie Hoffman off the stage at Woodstock).
Also no longer with us,fellow Yippie: Jerry Rubin.
These guys gave their bleedin' hearts so we can live in a world where the Fascist of the 1960s were permantently stunted in their growth.

True. It makes me so sad. John's gone, Jerry's gone, Jim's gone, Freddie's gone, who's left? It's terrible.

Luckily, I got to attend Hippiefest 2006 (First Annual) at DTE ENERGY MUSIC THEATER (also known as PINE KNOB), just north of Clarkston, Michigan (NW of Pontiac, Michigan), on August 27th, 2006 (Sunday). It's an award winning (and very popular) amphitheater venue, surrounded by beautiful heavy woods, rolling hills and a farm (complete with red barn, like Max Yasgur's), plus has a few waterfalls (lighted at night) and an amusement park- like concession area. I could've gotten an amphitheater seat, but I opted for a lawn seat (to get a WOODSTOCK 1969 atmosphere).

At Hippiefest 2006, there were five originals from WOODSTOCK 1969! All very much still alive and still 60's icons: WAVY GRAVY, Country Joe McDonald, Canned Heat, Melanie and Mountain (with Leslie West and Corky Laing). So I got to see, hear and experience all of these 60's icons, plus Terry Sylvester (from the original HOLLIES), Denny Laine (of THE MOODY BLUES and WINGS), RARE EARTH and MITCH RYDER (from MITCH RYDER AND THE DETROIT WHEELS)! All of these artists enjoyed PINE KNOB and played exceptionally well.

WAVY GRAVY (Hugh Romney) turned 70 on May 17, 2006 and still wears many clown outfits, including a giant whoppie cushion, plus blows bubbles. MELANIE sounded exceptional and said she rememebered when she used to play at this theater (DTE ENERGY MUSIC THEATER) in the 70's, when it was called: PINE KNOB, then a fan shouted; "It still is!" CANNED HEAT sounds better in person, than on recordings. Their song: ON THE ROAD AGAIN really rocked!!! The drummer still bounces his drumsticks into the audience! Denny Laine played WINGS songs, instead of THE MOODY BLUES songs. Country Joe McDonald sang his famous protest songs and he lives not far from WAVY GRAVY, in Berkeley, California.

There were quite alot of older (original) hippies there. Many of them danced like teenagers and I could smell some smoke from that magical herb! A few young hippy chicks danced barefoot, high on something: alcohol, pot, acid, or a combination? Of course, a beach ball was tossed around all night, on the lawn seat's hill. I sat at the bottom, so I got "beach balled" alot.

Those older hippies are still "Wild Childs". I would like to call the whole Hippyfest 2006 experience as: "Grannys Gone Wild!!!". Much tie-dye was worn! Imagine your "hip" granny wearing tie-dye, or your middle-aged mom smoking a "big fat one", then dancing wildly? Imagine no more. That was Hippiefest 2006!!! A fun time was had by all.

HIPPIEFEST should be back next year, as this was THE FIRST ANNUAL Hippiefest. I'm planning on going back, next year.

The PINK BUNNY (of ENERGIZER batteries) keeps going, and going and going, but the WHITE RABBIT (sung by GRACE SLICK of JEFFERSON AIRPLANE) says: "FEED YOUR HEAD!"

    Peace, love and understanding . . .

I bet when you guys were our age it must've been something to imagine yourselves as grandparents! I watch old documentaries, and I have to remind myself that that's someone's grandpa, etc.

Cosmicdust, I saw Canned Heat two years ago http://hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16921. They were great, but the drummer is the only original member of the band, bringing us to 3 more 60s icons no longer with us:

    Bob "The Bear" Hite

    Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson

    Henry "The Sunflower" Vestine
