Did anyone just watch this shocking and really upsetting investigation/Docu prog about racism in the UK? How quickly, I thought, people forget! They all say the same about each other, and none of them were looking at the other as individuals/humans. I was just screaming inside "We're all the same! We all live on this planet together!". How disrespectful to past generations, to those at war now.I knew racism was always here, but I did not honestly know how awful it had gotten. Minorities fighting minorities. So sad, but I am pleased to now be informed about this issue. Thoughts Anyone?
I've no time for racists. Apparantly in America though it's worse as to condem someone over there for being a racist is an infringement of their right to freedom of speech.

Someone from Mississippi who considers herself an expert on pretty much everything said that to me. She said you can't prosecute people for any racist behaviour unless it reaches the point of violence, vandalism, or any other physical act. Apparantly you can use verbal racist abuse to your heart's content over there and no-one can stop you. Then again this person has come up with all sorts of bollocks saying that a person is justified in killing someone for attempting to steal their car, and that you can spread diseases by walking around without any shoes on, so it's not as if I take her word as gospel.
No offense, but your friends wrong. Racial slander is illegal in all 50 states, and I think its usually civily actionable (lawsuit) too. I'm not saying there isn't some racism here, but its not protected speech.
Well you can spread any diseases by walking around barefoot, but its possible *unlikely* that you can spread ringworm through carpet. It only lives for about half a minute on carpet, and it cant survive on tile. I wouldn't really worry about it though.
Yeah, I watched the end of it, it's so sad. It's just....I find the idea of discriminating against someone because of what colour their skin is, or what country they're from incomprehensible, so to watch it, it just seems so stupid. How can people be so stuck in a trap of hatred, why can't they just talk!! And smile at each other!!
I saw it too. It was pretty revealing. I live in Cumbria and we don't have that many ethnic groups (and everyone is so small time compared to the big cities) so we don't seem to get much in the way of actual physical discrimination, so waatching that made me realize things I haven't actually had the chnace to see for myself.
Oh she's no friend of mine. I can't stand her to be honest. She does seem to think she's going to be a lawyer one day. Explains a great deal actually.

I remember watching merican history x and almost throwing up.... not because its got blood etc in it, becuse i dont get effected by films like that, but it was because i knew that it actually HAPPENS. the curb stomping, the racial wars it all happens. And the fact people are so damn naieve about it in such an open world gets me. People who are too stuck in their own ways, to selfish to see past skin!!! makes me so incredibly angry. And that work with minorities to other minorities, with caucasion to mixed reace, african to asian, indian to caucasion etc etc. I dont care which directiong the racism is flying its wrong! I myself have been subject to racist comments! and its hurts so damn much.
Racism from whites is BY FAR more previlent and is something we should keep in mind. When you are treated second best constantly it's easy to react against others to empower yourself. It's also used by governments and known as DIVIDE AND RULE.
i was so shocked... i went on holiday with one of my closest friends her grandparents and i found out they were racist! i didnt know what to say. we was in a restaurant with a waiter from senagal and immediately they said he was an illeagle immigrant! it annoys me so much how people so nice and friendly can be sooo ignorant and uneducated about society!i understand their point about foreigners coming here and stealing our jobs, but they do it better than we could do. an iranian doctor saved my nans life! the problem is, due to racist issues our country has, foreigners have to settle for the dirty underpayed jobs that our own lazy bastards wont do! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. why ant we just be happy with everyone and welcome people into our country? jenny x
Fear is instilled in everyone by the government and news agencies such as the one owned by Rupert Murdoch (wanker!). It is important to remember that. Not everyone who says something that we would find shocking is necessarilly a bad person, just the misinformation is working on them sadly. It's up to us to debate the issues with them and show them that a lot that they're told is pure fiction.
I hoped someone would mention this documentary.. I like darcus howe ...i have not read or heard all the things he has too say .. What i have heard , makes a lot of sense (IMHO). He is honest kind and true too himself . The programe was brilliant... i hate all people that are radical to the point of not caring or do not listen to what others say...their were plenty on show last night ... The documentary should be shown in schools . We've got the highest rate of racist attacks in the UK at the moment, right here in Belfast. Strange to think that a country so long affected by sectarianism is now turing its hatred elsewhere. I used to live in the area of south Belfast that was worst affected. But last weekend I was part of our (SWP) weekly campaigning in the city centre, and we were building the Belfast Anti-racism network which has been hugely sucessful since its inception last year. The idea was to build a network of activists across the whole country who would be able to respond to each and every racist attack with leafletting and stalls. We got about a hundred names in just one day. Hopefully we can isolate the racists and teach their children.
