yeah, I was thinkin of goulash too, its pretty much the same premise........ its just a way for restaurants to get rid of old and leftover food. just throw it all together in a plate, and call it the garbage platter....... saves on your food cost! eww why would you get that??
No, that's not what it is. It's not leftover food. The meat is grilled when you order. The fries are fried when you order, and the macaroni salad is made that day. I don't see how it can be compared to goulash, either, which isn't even close to that. Goulash is macaroni with tomato sauce and ground beef with peppers and spice. I got it because it's good. It's a staple food around here.
yeah, you think it isnt left over food....... seriously though, it helps them save on food cost...... fries are always over-produced..... and it doesnt take much to make hamburger........ you can use old steaks, grind them up into hamburger. I didnt say that they took old fried hamburger, duh! you still grill it up......... or cook it up........ could be very old steaks....... still tastes fresh! but its a way to save on food cost, instead of throwing away old steaks.......... and macaroni?? can always be used again and again....... just add some cream and more cheese to it, its good to go.....
It's no more leftover than anything else on the menu. The same hamburger that's used is the same hamburger used in the cheeseburgers. The macaroni doesn't contain cream or cheese. It's macaroni salad, which is the same macaroni salad that would be offered as a side. Besides, most people who eat at Nick Tahou's eat there because of the Garbage Plates, which is like the most popular thing on the menu. I'd think they'd need a lot more than just leftovers to make hundreds of these plates.
