hey all friday night after aiden woke me up screaming i changed his diaper and noticed that his penis is all red around the tip. I called the doctor's and explained to them what was going on and they told me to put bactrobane on and to keep him as dry as posible. I just want to know how can i keep him comfortable whenhe goes pee he starts screaming his head off grabs his diaper to try and make the pain go away. it is painful for me cuz i cant do anything but what i am doing i wakeup four to five times a night to the sound of aiden screaming. what to do
Is it a diaper rash? Try letting him go naked, etc (all the same things you do for a regular diaper rash).
yeah, let the air get to it as much as possible. If it is any form of rash, I find Penaten Cream clears anything up. That's always what I use on Leane, every time i change her. It's great, and it clears things up in about an hour (I sound like I should be in an ad for them or something...), the active ingredient in it is zinc oxide, which does wonders for rashes and skin irritations. If nothing like that clears it up, get him into the doc.
sounds like some kind of nappy rash maybe try changing him more frequently... so hes not sitting in his own pee any maybe use cloth instead of disposable or something more breathable have you tried potty training him yet, maybe its time he was out of diapers and into jocks. That could also help. Of course he might be masturbating and rubbing too hard.
Yep, like the other ladies said, give him lots of nekkid bum time. The air will do it good down there. Only put a diaper on him when you absolutely have to (like when he's sleeping). I know it will be quite messy, but he'll heal much faster. Poor little guy. I hope he feels better soon. {{{Hugs}}}
True, but if he's anything like my boys, he might end up soaking his bed and not being able to sleep due to being uncomfortable. I guess it depends on how long he's napping though.
thanx for all the wonderful ideas i try to let him run around nakey but as you all said it is messy and his father dosnt like him running around nakey. i am introducing him to the potty chair and i think i might just change him to cloth diapers since they are more breathable.
IF you go to cloth diapers, try using prefolds and covers instead of all-in-ones (at least some of the time) because then you can let him wear just the diaper with no cover so he can't pee all over the place and make puddles (LOL), but its not waterproof, therefore him little peepee can breathe. Thats what my kids do all the time when we're at home, even if they don't have a rash. We only use covers if we're going somewhere, and even then, its fleece or wool which both breathe pretty well. They never get rashes.
when my girls got red and irritated, it was almost always due to some sensitivity of some sort or another. With my first child, it was usually because of the chemicals in the disposable diapers she wore. But certain foods also cause a rash to happen, as does yeast. It could be any of those things, or even the soap you bathe him in. A barrier cream is a good idea, and so is letting it air out, but better would be to also search for and eliminate the root cause of the problem.
