The unbalanced, clearly biased perspective of the american media coverage of what very well may turn out to be the precursors of World War 3 alarms the hell out of me, I agree with Jacque Chirac in that this conflict is incredibly dispraportionate, and the apathy of the mainstream media to the plight of the Palestinian and Lebanese people outrages and angers me. Here are some links to their perspective:

Holy shit... now when you read their side, its kind of like why do we just let that happen because its the middle east, and it happens alot. If anyone attacked civilians in America, the government would start a war for sure (just look at sept. 11th). Not as many people have been killed, i know, but really does that make a difference? At least on sept. 11th it was terrorists, and not another countries military doing it. Just imagine what would happen if Mexico or Canada decided to shoot some missiles over the border at us. Just because we hear about all of these attacks so often, they lose impact. When you really think about it, every one of those people killed has a life just like us! OK well i am a little stoned and rambling... but think about that!

All news media is biased, and all readers interpret media reports with their own bias...

    But:
War is bad, killing is bad.
Peace is good, living is good, Love and Loving are best.

I am still waiting for a definition of terrorism from the White House. Does the IRA fit that definition? How about the genocide in Africa. Why don't we take sides there and intercede?

The Israeli soliders were captured not kidnapped, and there has been an armed conflict in the middle east for centuries. For us to take sides and label one side as terrorists, and the other as justified in taking innocent lives is lying to ourselves.

I speak out for PEACE, and say it's time for both sides to lay their weapons down and live according to humane practices. And that applies to Israel, in allowing Palestinians to work and live in the area that has been allocated to them, and allow them to be a viable presence in that area.

Don't forget Rachel Corrie she was a 23 year old American citizen from the state of Washington, and she was run over and killed by an Israeli bulldozer. She was doing peaceful humanitarian work saving Palestinian children. Did we create a war over that? America did nothing about it!

Don't get sucked into labeling some as terrorists, and giving others a pass because they wear a uniform that is acknowledged by a government. Remember during the US revolutionary war many of the patriots wore no uniform, would they be labeled terrorists today, and attacked by the very government they fought to initiate and ensure. Very possibly if they disagreeded with the monied elite.

I wish the American public would hold their constitution and declaration of independence with more respect and concern and protect it from those that wish to erode it in order to promote their corporate concerns. They look constantly for loopholes and manipulation that can benefit their small concerns. They sell it to the American people under the guise of keeping prices down. When will we learn to ask to see those lowered prices before we give up our rights. And our security has never been foremost in their minds, only their bank accounts.

Capturing others soldiers, I consider to be an act of war. As for sides I think it is easy when one side is calling for destruction of your country and one is an Ally of you country.

Israelis were not dancing in the streets after 9/11, therefore not even close to a difficult decision for myself.

Huh, don't stand in front of a bull dozer during a military operation!! Lack of common sense kills many.

I don't think you are rambling. The medias are controlling the way news get out and we do end up being desensitized about others, on the pretext that they live far away. But when you're only showed 30 seconds of someone on t.v., it's easy to forget that they are human like us.

This reminds me of the Kosovo conflict. I was younger and knew less about wars, and after seeing something on t.v. (or reading, I'm not sure), I was surprised at how these people were just like me. :&
