did anyone else think this movie is a waste of time? i cant really say its a bad movie but its boring. the whole thing is people drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes and talking about what ever.
Im actually really excited to see this movie, it was in production hell for a long time, i need to find a copy of it.
it is one of my top 10 movies of all time. I adore it. The fact that ordinary people talking about whatever, just shooting the breeze, can be filmic is so cool, as is the complementary idea that celebrities still function like normal people. And the filming is incredibly gorgeous - Jim Jamusch is so talented, the white, the black the coffee the cigarettes, the checks...the linking is so smooth but so stunning. I guess you have to be prepared for the fact that it is a Jarmusch movie - like Broken Flowers it may not be the most explosive, action packed plot, but therein lies the beauty. i also think it's cool how the conversations kind of flow in and out of each other - a mate of mine and I were talking about how the movie kind of demonstates the Nicholas Tesla thing of acoustic residence - it's like Jarmusch is flying round the coffee shops and cafes and picking up on the ideas that are resonationg around the world at that minute: cigarettes and coffee are a bad lunch, coffee makes your dreams go fast, that kind of thing. And it's funny. The scene with Steve Coogan and Alfred Molina has me cracking up every time. I didn't find it boring, I found it funny, moving, beautiful.
I thought it was ok, some skits better than others. But yeah I could see why you wouldn't like it. But it had good acting and dialouge, better than most movies
