Which festival did you like better?

Keep in mind that D.A. Pennebaker, not to long ago, released a 3 disc remake with two hours of never-before-seen footage and "Jimi Plays Monterey" and "Shake: Otis Redding at Monterey Pop"

    It's a tough one...

Woodstock... I thought that was one of Jimi's greatest performances. But the Dead played better at Monterey, the Dead didn't want themselves included in the Woodstock movie because they thought their performance was sub-par? Is that correct?

    Anyways, I picked Woodstock.

I think Monterey was better. Like a huge love-in. And that is just the people. I think it was musically also better
The who, Otis Redding, Mama Papas, the Byrds, Janis Joplin, Hendix, Simin and Garfunkel, the Animals, the quicksilver messenger, the Dead, scot Mckenzie and alot more artists

I thought the Dead werent in either movie, for woostock because supposedly they did play badly there, and at Monterey because they played too long...

but anyway i would probably say monterey

Woodstock, although it's a shame Joni Mitchell didn't perform.

Woodstock . is not simply about how well the artist play that day or not. is about close to a half million people "young ones" matter of fact if God really existed he would had choosen that day to show up on Earth ! . That beutifull summer day in 1969 or even the nasty thunderstorm and rain that rolled thru but everyone survived is what make Woodstock 1969 1 of the kind. The vietnam era helicopter flying around and bringing medics and food and water . near by town people either mad or happy of whats going down, cops staying off limits, Monterey just simply dont stack up. and the way Joe Cocker perform or Santana Soul Sacrafice right after the Storm not even the best Hollywood producer could had though of it. it was near a apocolypse scene. IF you saw this film at a big screen theater like i did in 1971 you experience a very like being there . even today . renting the video or dvd and watching it on a small tv screen you dont get the full impact of the film. also the theater should have the most elaborated sound system in the bissnes . only a few theater in big citys have them.

Montery. Roger Daltrey looked far goofier.

Not a good reason at all, but ... Blah.

Monterey by far in my book. It was the height of the summer of love, before shit got all out of control. Plus, it is the first time many of these artist we ever seen....janis' first time out of san fran, nobody had ever heard of hendrix outside of england, 1st time the dead played outside san fran (and no, they dont show the dead at any of the shows). The jam by country joe and the fish is the shit, the animals, hugh masekela--one of my favorites.....i love woodstock, but monterey is my favorite

i agree with you on this.
and my favourite scene in woodstock
is the scene where they play "goin' up to the country"
and in the scene, it's all the hippies flocking to woodstock.
my favorite scene in the whole movie.
seems to captivate in just a few minutes what the best lifestyle in the world is: a hippy lifestyle.

it kind of depresses me (or maybe motivates me, i can't tell, lol.)
bc i wish very deeply that i was there and i wish i could've lived then
    and yeah, but woodstock anyways...

i did like festival express, too.
the dead did an awesome performance!

i just really dislike the damn sha-na-na's!
