Hey, I was just on Wikipedia, and upon looking up Woodstock for a possible anniversary event, I came across this:

"On August 12-13th 2006, the site will host a two-day Woodstock anniversary concert. No artists have been announced to the event yet"

Has anybody heard anything about this?

My wife and I and many of our family all go to Yasgur's Farm for the Woodstock Reunions every year! There is also a thing going on on the actual field where the original was. Alan Gerry (a billionaire who 'bought' the field and surrounding acreage) has been constructing a PAC on the adjoining land, as well as on the top of the hill. Melanie performed at his Day in the Garden (DIG) event he did back in 99, she told the crowd that she would never perform there again becasue she was so disgusted by what he is doing to that land. She then came down to Yasgur's Farm and performed there, as she has many years. We will definitely be back at Yasgur's come August!!

EDIT: For those thinking about going to Alan Gerry's fest at Bethel Woods, be aware he will not let you stay over night on the field, or set up tents. And the only campground that was in the area closed up 2 years ago.

I was 15 years old when the original WOODSTOCK 3-day concert occurred in the August of 1969, near Bethel, NY. I didn't have a driver's license, yet, so I couldn't drive there, nor did I have any high school friends who could go. One of my best friend's ex-friends went to WOODSTOCK 1969 and my brother knew someone who was born there!

I learned about WOODSTOCK 1969 Anniversary Reunions from an older YASGUR'S FARMS website. I always wanted to go, but never went. I'd like to visit there some year. It'd be cool!!! I did purchase three different, collectable "Yasgur Farms DIARY" glass, milk bottles (on ebay), though.

There is a newer, updated YASGUR'S FARM website, called: YASGUR ROAD (YASGUR ROAD PRODUCTIONS). The latest WOODSTOCK 1969 Anniversary Reunion News is given here. Check it out:

A short history of the Woodstock 1969 site:

On this thread, I posted a hippy event, entitled Hippyfest 2006 (August 27, 2006 @ 6:30PM) at the DTE Energy music theater, at PINE KNOB MUSIC THEATER, just northwest of Pontiac, Michigan (off of I-75 freeway). Country Joe McDonald and Melanie will be two of the artists featured (who were at the original WOODSTOCK 1969)! It will be hosted by WAVY GRAVY (the psychedelic clown of WOODSTOCK 1969, who talked many hippies down from their bad acid trips)! Ben & Jerry named an ice cream flavor after him! Not the original Bethel, NY site, but real people from the original WOODSTOCK 1969 are featured at THE FIRST ANNUAL HIPPIEFEST (2006), SUMMER CONCERT FOR PEACE & LOVE, presented by FLOWER POWER CONCERTS, INC. The 14th Annual MICHIGAN PEACE FESTIVAL, was held at the Willow Ranch (1/2 mile north of Locata, MI, which is 30 minutes form Kalamazoo, but close to the shores of Lake Michigan) this weekend (July 14, 15, 16). 35 bands for $25 and three days of camping! This is the first time that I've heard about it, as it is a 3 hour drive, from the Metro Detroit, MI area. I would've liked to gone there, too, but not enough planning time!

Besides the ANNUAL ANN ARBOR HASH BASH (1st Saturday in April in Ann Arbor, MI), Michgian has two more "WOODSTOCKY-events" (mentioned above). Next week is the ANNUAL ANN ARBOR ART FAIR (July 19-22)(www.artfair.org), which is also sort-of "hip". Some "headshops" will display their wares there, plus Ann Arbor has many good places to eat, even hippy "veggie" places and a 60's pizza place! One year, the original artworks of JOHN LENNON, JERRY GARCIA and GRACE SLICK were displayed at the MICHIGAN UNION BUILDING (a U of M college building). Some were offered for sale!

If any hippy.com-ers go to the WOODSTOCK 1969 Reunion, let us know how it was! If you go there, have a groovy, peaceful and trippy time!

    Peace out
