Not at the moment, really~ no... I'm just thinking of some kind of plan of action for myself. There's this really kickass place in India, y'know? So, I'm thinkin' I'll take a nice year to tour some communes/ ecovillages in North America, then maybe head out there. That's if your little project kind of fubbles up. I'd like to spend some time up at your place, too. It's just that there's the standard kind of immediate interest here that just kind of dies out.
hi makihiko, i did send you a pm because im interested in all this comunne thing. well i hope you send something back to me
Well, just this~ in the interest of really getting underway, maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to simply move the project into an ecovillage. There are quite a few around who have a large amount of land and too few people for their taste. Feedback?
thats my plan aswell... i only want to use what mother earth can give us, and give her the same or more back.
I think you have a great idea, geting a number of people to pitch in money, however timmons? Why would you want to start a commune anywhere near timmons. I guess the hard part is finding enough people who can all agree on one place. I might use that idea though, I've been wanting to buy my own property to set up a sustainable community for some time now, but my problem has been money (and the fact that I'm 19). If anyone is interested in helping me purchase land in british columbia let me know.
well, the land is really all you need. I mean, resources to build your own place the way you want it, literally dirt cheap, -are there. so, hell yeah, you don't need anything but a few people. My preference would be to find somebody with a good deal of land, and do some work for the throughout the year in exchange for the use of some of it. won't cost you a dime grouve on~
I'm up for this! Been looking for people interested in making a commune in Canada... I'll be able to join after next summer, when I go tree-planting and making a bunch of money, all of it going to wards the commune, of course: my main goal for the moment is to make money to go to whatever commune I decide on. I'm having trouble contacting people in Canada who've got a commune... I've emailed a lot of people, but they don't email back...
Bheh, I took the opposite strategy. I have absolutely no money at all, and I try to get around and visit whatever communes I can, put in as much work as possible, and just mellow to the vibe of the people around me. ...It's a good system
I don't know where any communes are! After next summer I'm free, and am gonna hitchhike all over, find some commune, then who knows? Plus, earning money is a good front: my parents aren't exactly 'hippys', and deffinitely would not embrace my future plans.
sounds interesting this canada commune, i live in scadinavia, used to the cold, (but live in a city) but i have to say, in sweden, people put a lot money and energy on buiding wood houses that isolates the cold, beleive me, it's not fun to freeze... i hope we could find some folx who knows how to build some simple but heat efficient shelter
I voted for all 3. As much as I want to say that Happiness is the most important, it's hard to be happy when you're starving and freezing.
http://ic.org/ has a directory of communes, all over the world. They probably have most of the ones in North America, but probably miss a lot in the rest of the world. Still, they got a very large list, and plenty of other info as well. Not just communes, but other intentional communities as well. Tony
