anyone ever read this bestsellar by steven hawking. better yet, anyone understand it? I havn't studied any quantum mechanics but am a student of the physical sciences and I found this book to be very hard to understand in detail. maybe if it went into extreme detail but it would then probably be thousands of pages and require very much time of re-reading and study to understand. IT was very interesting reading about stuff like blackholes, the begining of time and the universe, the (in)finitness of space, time travel, high speed travel, how stars are formed and die. Even talked a little about God.

I tried reading it once.. I understood parts of it but not enough to make me want to read the entire book. As you said, it would probably take a lot of re-reading and research to completely understand it.
