    Ok check this out;

1 year ago before I went travelling and became a veggie in India, I weighed spot on 10 stone. I'm about 5ft '10 inches.

I weighed myself tonight not expecting much difference or even a drop in weight and I was pleasantly surprised to see I now weight 11.5 stone.

It's true I do get quite a lot of exercise and have quit smoking (9 months ago) but i'm really pleased because it has destroyed the stereotype of vegetarians being thing white pasty looking people!

On the contary I feel very well in myself and haven't been sick once this year (yet) and i'm much fitter than all my friends.

So screw all that anti-veggie 'propaganda'!

    :)

    14 pounds= 1 stone
Nice story, dude, but please keep those stones out of it. That unit of measure is extremely local to your island... and IMHO went out with the BEATLES.

ahahaha... i have seen more fat veggies n vegans in the last few years.....

just cuz one eats certain ways by no means make them healthier or leaner....

although i gotta say at 5 '10 " puttin on a stone or two in the last year has probably benefitted the skeletor body...:)

I had late dinner while on rotation at a neonatal unit. One of my classmates who likes to pretend to be the poor, starving student came to the table with a huge plate of white rice which she then proceeded to bury under packets of sugar and those tiny gratuitous cups of half-and-half. Some might call that vegetarian. What I call it is not suitable for print here.

dilli, whip out the bone char sugar and everything that's wrong with high fructose corn syrup (we can't be sure, the label says and/or)
I love poking the self-righteous baloons new vegans have.
(me-- and how long have you been vegan? them--18 days. me--eyeroll)

    LOL

    Sorry.

    Yards, pints, miles, ounces, feet.

I'm still old-skool imperial...Though i'm learning the metric system slowly...I think I have some idea what a kilo is now...Pounds I still have no idea.

    Keepin it real.

    Yeah this was my point.

10 stone wasn't at all healthy.

11.5 stone is much healthier for my height.

I like not feeling like a anorexic bloke!

    No offense to anorexics.

Peter: a pound is 16 weight ounces. Not metric. Most Americans couldn't figure kilos accurately, but we have some concept of it.
Is stone still heavily (haha) used?

oh dilli, don't get me started, sister.
Ask the paisanos of Mexico what wrong with (american) corn.

Yet the pound is officially defined as 0.453 592 37 kg. Weird.

For some reason, as a Canadian growing up under the Metric system... I still refer to body size with imperial measurements. It makes so much more sense to me.

As do most other Canadians, from what I've seen. And construction in Canada is also pretty much completely un-metricated.

Several fundamental Imperial and US Customary length measures actually are based on fingers.
