Belle and Sebastian

  1. Anyone hanging out for the new album?....anyone got it yet?

I love them so much, i listen to them every morning and night. I got a hold of "Push Bar Man to open old wounds", their EP's were so great.

Maybe this is a big call but alternative music these days all sounds the same...I'm glad theres a band out there that isn't trying too hard

    God bless the scottish. [IMG]

i've think their great! i got "if your feeling sinister" a few months ago, and it did take a while, but its really grown on me. i recently bought "Push Bar Man to open old wounds" as well, and its damn good!

i downloaded their new album awhile ago, but i've been trying to keep myself from listening to it to much before its actually released...from the few times i've listened to it, i can say that its pretty good, but it sounds very different from their previous albums that i have heard, which isnt a bad thing in my opinion.

they are coming to town....are you saying i should go???

  4. I don't see why not - The band members are all really talented and play their own stings/woodwind/brass instruments, so i think it should be an interesting show, I've never seen them, but i think they're coming here in a few months. I'll go on my own if i have to, i love them.

yeye, my two favourite albums of theirs. I'm looking foward to newness though,l should be exciting.

their music is great, the first song of theirs i really heard was 'mayfly' and since then, it's been love.

and I also think they get a super cheesy 'thumbs up!' award for the titles they give to their music. Their songs and albums all seem to have intriguing titles - like Fold your Hands Child, You Walk Like A Peasant, or A Nice Day For A Sulk or Judy Is A Dickslap. awesome.

anyway, rave over...i need to go listen to some Belle and Sebastian...Winter Wooskie. Yey.

I think the only album i have of my own is "If you're feeling sinister" and maybe a coupla extra tracks.
My sister has more, but she hasn't lent them to me yet.
I love Belle & Sebastian very, very much though.

I love the new album. I'm a huge Belle & Sebastian fan though, so I would. As objective as I can be though, I think it takes a few listens to get into, as it's not as obvious as previous records (especially Dear Catastrophe Waitress). But it's a grower, and it reminds me a lot of The Boy With The Arab Strap in that fashion.

And it definitely wasn't produced by Trevor Horn.

I saw them a few weeks ago In Birmingham U.K & they were absolutely Brilliant
well worth the money going to see, have about 3/4 of their albums & love them to bits. One of the finest bands to come from Scotland !!!

  9. I picked up the new album when it came out on wednesday....bloody marvelous! :)

I do prefer the old "folky" stuff though.

I was gonna get "If You're Feeling Sinister" today, but I got Superwolf by Bonnie "Prince" Billy and Matt Sweeny instead. I feel I made the right choice.

  11. I've heard that album's really cool - I'll have to pick it up soon.

It's definately worth getting, so is pretty much any Will Oldham album, especially "I See A Darkness"

  13. By the way, I would reccomend "Push Bar man to open old wounds" instead of "If you're feeling sinister"...as a first album anyway. Their best work was on their EPs

Okidoke, do they have an album called Tigermilk? Cause I've heard it's really good, but I'm not sure if it's by them or not.

  15. Yeah they do, I haven't heard it. I have 4 albums and say "push barman: is still the best.

The new album, "The Life Pursuit" is another great one. Although I think it takes a few listens to get into, as it's not quite as obvious as some of their other work.

There's also a live version of "If You're Feeling Sinister", where they played it live straight through, that's also pretty awesome.

"Push Barman" is great, but I already had all the EPs so I didn't see the point in getting it.

I'm a fan though, I think everything they've done is worth having.

It took a while for them to grow on me, but I do like them. They're new material is kind of a letdown, though. However, you can't go wrong with If You're Feeling Sinister or Tigermilk.
