    Free as the Wind

    How much like the air are we human souls
    so like the force that bends the pines
    and sets them whistling in the dark,
    we can sail through this life
    unhindered, unchained,
    and hardly checked.

    We can blow with boundless joy across the world
    free to follow the deeper currents of our souls
    and make our way shrieking in ecstasies;
    and if any here should oppose our bliss
    we can simply laugh from the depths
    of spirits that sing with eternity.

    For we are set in motion by the holy sun
    which warms our vapors, and is as one
    in essence with the whirling cosmos,
    and so we find the universe in us;
    we, the boundless force of
    freedom uncontained.

    Ok Brandon, I think that this would be better as two poems. The first poem would contain the first two stanzas, and the second poem would have the last stanza.

    The first two stanzas are about the wind, (and how our souls are like the wind.)

    The last stanza is my absolute favorite. I just love the imagery: the sun brings out the vapors of our soul, which whirls about in the cosmos...but then, the twist is that the universe is actually inside us, but then, you twist it back again, saying that the freedom of our souls is uncontained. The universe is outside, inside, then outside. Wow. I'm really blown away!

    I dug it, took me away for a minute, made me think, and then set me back down gently.

    Thank you both for your comments, I'm glad you liked it.

    But two poems, eh? I you're right, I could lose the whole last stanza and it'd read fine. Maybe I'll do that. But does the last stanza really stand up on it's own?

    hi there, this is just amazing,such reference
    to living...

    For we are set in motion by the holy sun
    which warms our vapors, and is as one
    in essence with the whirling cosmos,
    and so we find the universe in us;
    we, the boundless force of
    freedom uncontained.[/QUOTE]

    i love this reaction to living..if i may say
    you have given all and now you are free
    i wish all our human race could feel this
    keep writing
    letting others know what life can be, within
    this vast ocean of souls, who long to cling
    to eternity .....being the force you write of.
