and already i'm having trouble adjusting. stayed around colorado - hung at the hot springs for a bit, then in denver with a friend and in boulder. now i'm back in jersey and i'm having the blues. jersey just ain't no rainbow heaven. now, don't get me wrong; i'm realistic enough to know that rainbow nation is not perfect, nor is jersey horribly horrible. whenever i'm at somewhere like a gathering or a festival, i am overwhelmed by the availability to people just to talk, shoot the shit, help out, etc. make eye contact. i come back here and do my thing - hang in nyc or whatever, and i am simply struck by how there is no longer dirt under my fingernails and crazy folk to talk to.

my question, i suppose, is this: will my extreme happiness return when i drop out of babylon again, or - is it just my spot at this moment? i will be moving soon, and have been seriously contemplating some groovy places - (i've added boulder to my list after meeting amazing folk and having a super time there) like, do you think there are places in the world that - to some realistic extent - offers some of the stuff that the gathering has?

also - i miss all the cute rainbow hunnies. such beautiful people everywhere. if they were all like that, i'd have no trouble finding me a mate.

i miss colorado. i miss my family!

    look,
I'm a living in jersey for now and have plans to leave the country, but I am very happy about where I am at at the moment. And yes babylon is fucked. We know first hand seeing we both live in jersey, but try going hiking or camping to releave tensions of living here becouse it ain't no better people anywhere else, there's bad and good everywhere
    and just

I see the world offering stuff that the gathering has everyday. You just have to look. Maybe not to the same degree 100% of the time with everything. But like you mentioned...gatherings aren't perfect either.

i know, and i do. i go camping and hiking and work at a real friendly store and live in an artsy town - i do my best. however, the huge amount of people my age always around, always willing to talk and get to know me, and not take life too seriously - that's what i'm missing. and i'm missing colorado as a whole. i've got good people round here and i know that there are cool heads - they aren't as readily available as they were at the gathering.
at any rate, i realize that the rainbow phenomena is sort of isolated - i couldn't really live like that for very long - babylon provides me with a sweet job and art supplies...

Laughing@last phrase... Well it sounds like your neighborhood has a step up on vegas. Though lots of beautiful places around. The city itself.......unless you're a big drinker/partier/gambler is generally not so cool. Though as we both agree it depends upon how hard you look.

yeah - y'know, people keep 'suggesting' for me to check out vegas as a place to live. i tell them they're crazy. lately vegas has been growin, eh? i hear about it from my mom and her people - oh, the land is cheap, the schools are good, etc.
well, good luck to you in vegas!

Well...I wasn't really suggesting Vegas...Vegas is only temporary. I'm planning on moving to Thailand towards the end of this year. To Vegas' credit, there are a lot of great things about being here. Vegas has been growing. Great for work. Rent is still reasonable. Great night life (if you're into that sort of thing...which I'm not really). Lots of great inexpensive food. I eat a 10oz top sirloin, large salad, choice of potato, and fresh green beans for 4.95. You couldn't even buy the steak alone at the grocery store for that. Beautiful Red Rock, Mt. Charleston, and Lake Mead, all within an hour's drive. The bad things...well...I'm sure you could guess at most of them. Just not the happiest hipfriendly place. If you do come here at any point...You're invited to look me up.
