I live in a Simi-small Town in North dakota that rarly has any events and has no Gatherings of people of the same ideas. I've been having a thought for a while, Grand Forks sucks right? well why not make it better, right? I've really Been getting into activism and i was thinking how nice it would be if i could Gather People like me for some kind of festivity with music, Bands and ART. I think This would also help anything dealing with public awarness and Signing Patitions!! and the best part is I WANT IT TO TO BE FREE!!!!!! I've got it all planned out in my head but i bet its not going to be that easy, becouse i bet I'm going to need some kind of Permit from the city! But i was also thinking of keeping it underground and at some park! I would also like it if the drug culture would join in ( I bet they would if I made thous psedo-psycedelic-like Posters to advertise.......) Alot of Events that i see involving our Culture Have put a price tag on the event ( like 10,000 Lakes Festival [the closest one to me] costs $150 just for one person and that doesn't include parking) I don't think its right that we need to pay for our events like that and I want to make a Change, but i Fear that its IMPOSSIBLE these days due to the obsession of money everyone seems to have and the Need to cash-in on any event. Please give me your Thoughts
Grand Forks is pretty dead, at least when I visited it. What about reaching out to Fargo/Moorhead? There seemed to have a nice hippie/indie/alt scene there. You might be able to find some bands/support there. See if you can get a couple of people together with some money and raise cash. Talk to local businesses about sponsoring and give them advertising space. That will keep the event free and open to everyone. How is ND? I miss being there. I visited Rugby when I was there too.
at least in most cities you can watch or listen to gang fights regularly, well you can the small city where I live.
It's because they're lazy and they're not lookin'... there's tons to do in bigger cities... That's why I love living so close to Toronto - I'm in the city virtually every weekend between all the festivals and clubs and bars and such...
