i no neither is better but which do you all prefer to play fenders or gibsons and i speak of electric guitars
Well, it's not really a brand thing with me, it depends on each individual guitar. I own a Fender, but I've played plenty of Fender guitars that I hated the feel of. I've played some sweet ass Gibsons and I've played some that weren't so sweet. I think I'm going to go with other.
I just can't get down with fender. they don't feel right in my hands. something about it. I'm a Gibson man. I love them. The necks are perfect and the action is just right. the tone is unbelievable....fender is great though, in other peoples hands. i do like fender amps more than gibson amps though. an old tube fender amp kicks ass....with an old gibson guitar, like a single coil gibson melody maker....
i've got a les paul, I love it. Without it i'd be dead. Saved my life (like kings Lucile) I love fenders though, theyre so twangy and bluesy and weird. I love both guitars, wish I had a fender of my own.
For me, Gibsons deffo. They look, feel and sound meatier. Saying that, I bought a Gretsch Tennessee rose that is now my number one guitar.
I am a Fender man although I have only played a few Fenders that I liked and a whole bunch of them that I didn't like. having said that I have a sweet little Gibson that I play a lot as well. I like the lines and the looks of a strat. I have never owned a guitar that I didn't take completely apart (several times usually) and rework or shim the neck or flatten the frets or what-have-you.
They are both unique. Fenders generally have more treble and bass where gibson have more midtones. By feel alone I prefer fender since i don't like the slanted neck on a gibson
each guitar is unique. when I go shopping for a new axe i'll play just about every guitar in several stores before I find "the one". Like I said above I have played a lot of fenders that I didn't like...gibsons too.
I have one of each, they are so different I switch guitars depending on what style or sound I want. The Gibson SG almost plays itself, but I find it easier to be more precise on the Strat. I like both, but use the SG as my main axe.
fender all the way till the day i die. first electric guitar was a fender strat 70s USA model, then went onto the jaguar, then the mustang. and also a telecaster! love em, the only other brand that comes close for me is Ibanez.
I use a Yamaha Pasifica 112, which is based on a strat. I have played Gibsons when I was on work experience in a guitar shop but somehow I don't like the feel or tone of them quite as much. For my next guitar I'm going to get a Telecaster Custom II (the black one with 2 humbuckers). I much prefer the action on Fenders, it's much lower, which I like. Every Gibson I've played I've really had to push the strings onto the frets to get anything out of them. I also prefer that Fender use maple necks as much (if not more than) Rosewood. I've always prefered maple - rosewood, I find, feels too gritty for me. Anyways - that's my two pence. Sebbi
the gibson fits me better, because i have small hands and gibson necks are tinner. and i can get better music out of a gibson, but that is an error of me not of fender
I have a love/Hate relationship with my Les Paul "lovely 100"...but what a relationship it is! couldn't do without her! i also love the fender, the sweetest Fender I have ever played was a mexican strat... i played that baby in a way i could never play my les paul...but that goes bothways. i didn't like the SG verymuch, i cant believe robbie krieger en Pete townshend did the things they did on a SG, while most of it i can imulate on my Les Paul. Allmost every guitar sound great on a Fender Amp, agreed I think Gibson is bit more Rock 'n roll:sunglasse <edit> This is me on a Les Paul http://home.deds.nl/~neo-hippie/10%20-%20Track%2010.mp3 This is me on a Fender http://home.deds.nl/~neo-hippie/15%20-%20Track%2015.mp3 the quality might be a bit crap but i found this great quote on the back of a Yardbirds album; "The lesser standard of the tapes is counterbalanced by the quality of performance." i hope that flies here:H <edit>
i definitely prefer the sound of a fender. they are such unique guitars, each individual one has something different to offer. i especially like that i can get such a plethora of sounds out of my strat. it just fits me perfectly no matter what. ive played few gibsons that i like. the do have amazing tones, and are equally beautiful whether with distortion or clean. but i just dont feel the groove like i do when im playing my strat. too thick and even i guess.
BC Rich To me, nothing beats the playability and sound of my early 90's era BC Rich NJ Assassin. For an amp, I'm thinking a Marshall stack.
