I'm flowering with foxfarm soil and nutes, here's the kicker; as an experiment I put about 2-3inches of perlite in the bottom of 4' kiddy pool then filled the rest with fox farm and flowering plants. :H So far the water stays in the soil not in the perlite which is what is supposed to happen as per the experiment! what do you thunk will happen?
I generally put a couple of inches of pearlite at the bottom of my pots. Mainly for improved drainage so as not to have the roots stood in water.
When I stick my water guage in it says wet in soil and dry in perlite it appears that no matter how much water I pour on perlite always dry and no water below perlite that kinda amazed me!
All the better to get oxygen to the roots. Getting a bit disillusioned with some of these growing forums the amount of negative stuf going about is quite amazing.
I'm on several mj forums this is the most juvenile, but I come here 'cause they make me feel smart, not the obviously experienced or learned like yourself, THE OTHERS!
Perhaps if you stopped spamming Gypsy's seedbank, the fake greenmans page (oh...it rates Gypsy's site with 4 stars, innit?), and giving out terrible growing advice - perhaps people would not feel the urge to jump down your throat and ejaculate their knowledge.
