I'm constantly tired but I can only sleep six hours a night and I wake up every hour when I am sleeping.
That was me before I started to drink more water. Your body can't rest when it's thirsty. If you feel tired drink water because it will refresh you. If you are awake at an odd hour then drink water and it will relax you. It sounds funny but it's true.
Hm, I have felt like I've been drinking less water then usual the past couple weeks. Thanks- I'll try that. (goes to get water right now)
skip sleep altogether for one night. in the morning, do what you normally do until time to go to bed....you'll drop like a sack of potatoes and hopefully reset your sleep cycle by-the-by, six hours is a normal amount of sleep for an adult. the every hour stuff is weird, tho. maybe you are stressed
I know it's normal for some adults but some adults typically need seven or eight and I've always been a seven or eight type of girl. The waking up every hour thing too is seeming to make my "six hours sleep" feel more like three or four. Good idea about the skipping btw.
I would say the best way to sleep is to use your talents. For example, I like to paint and to write, so when I am exceptionally troubled (which is often, I might add), I will write a short story about sleeping, trying to picture it and describe it. Your mission is to make your mind truly relax by influencing it.
I like to use visualization when having a difficult time going to sleep. I find my calming place, and I remember you mentioning before that water tends to be favorite place. For me, I tend to use the forest, but I also like to use the ocean at times as well. I start off picturing this place, whichever one I feel in the mood for that evening. I focus on the colors around, the sounds, the feel, even the scent. I combine this with some slow and deep breathing and it almost always lulls me to sleep. Hope you get catch some restful zzz's soon.
I am actually stuck in the same situation. Uncomfortably waking up every hour, waking up early after a long night of tossing and turning...I have been stressed out for numerous reasons though, and also have lost track with my healthy diet and exersize. All of which are potential causes of my "insomnia" Whatever you do, don't get youreself hooked on sleeping pills, only makes it harder on your body to get back into the swing of things.....been there, done that. I do enjoy staying up late and reading a good book sometimes, wich leads to me wanting to write, and then again I do seem to write some inspirational stuff while I am sleep deprived! If I had a link to myspace you'd see my blogs and understand what I mean..:*Peace
I replay something redundent in my mind while I lie still and quiet, like an episode of the Simpsons or a video that I really liked, or my favorite movie. Works pretty well most times.
