One of the most potent weapons us pot smokers have for legalization are leo's. Not the police brass. They realize legal pot means less cops needed to bust pot smokers and that means less power. No, I talking about "regular" cops--the ones out on patrol. More and more I see instances where cops don't bust adults for possession or small personal grows. They know that the person sitting home smoking a joint isn't going to commit any serious crime. A few years ago there were 3 cops running for sheriff. I went to the candidates meeting. One cops mentioned "We have to get rid of green and white dope". This wingnut also wanted to turn the cops into a paramilitary organization. I didn't even bother to talk to this ultra-rightwinger. Instead I talked to another cop after the speech's. I asked him "what are your views on marijuana use and home gardens?" He told me "If I had my way, they's remove all restrictions on marijuana and instead put them on alcohol. I've been a patrolman for many years, and every night I answer calls that involve alcohol-fueled problems, but never any call's that involve marijuana problems, besides the mere fact that it'a illegal." He was also in favor or community policing--working with people to cut crime rather than against them. To have people view cops as allies rather than advasaries. He was the one I voted for. He won, and recently was re-elected. When cops stop busting people because they realize that it isn't a problem the battle for legalization is halfway won. Yeah there are anti-pot cops who are s.o.b.'s re: pot. But they are a dying breed. So be courtious to cops. Don't get all in the face--it won't do you any good anyway.
yea there are lots of cops who are good people, and i always try to recognize that when i have an exchange with them... but then there are the bastards that equate your entire existence with your marijuana use and pull you over because you have a phish sticker on your car and proced to trample on your constitutional rights. those guys make it difficult to respect the cops who are reasonable, at times.
yea i view cops as pigs... but there are good cops out there.... it would be tight to blaze with a cop...
I believe the Rev. Bill Hicks had something to say with pot vs. alcohol. Pot is a better drug. I like laughing and having thoughtufl discussions much better than puking and arguing with people
And when you run into the garage door because you were high instead of running down a pedestrian because you were drunk, a job is created to fix the door.
i agree with the legalization of marijuana and i also think that alcohol should be more restricted. tooo many deaths have come from alcohol and i've never heard of pot killing you..unless it was like cancer or something from long term use. it just makes no sense. because drinking is more accepted in society.
In my opinion... there are two types of people in this world: people & cops. I've never met a chill cop... met lots of them who want to arrest me and kick my ass but never one that was chill. Its their job to arrest you for smoking herb...
I've met a few chill cops. Like a bunch of cops who didn't arrest us for smoking in the park. They just gave us a loitering ticket (cuz we were in a park after it closed) and took my bubbler and grinder. However, I have a friend who was training to be a cop and he told us about how so many cops do drugs, beat their wives, and just drink like fish.
Corporate America doesn't really care what you put in your mouth, up your nose, through your lungs or into your veins, as long as they get a cut from it. That's the whole legal drug racket in a nutshell: it's billions of dollars in annual profits generated from mind-altering, yet legal drugs that flat-out kill people. Every drug that's legal is legal for one simple reason: somebody in a position of power is keeping it legal because they're getting a cut. That's why medical marijuana is illegal: because government doesn't control its distribution, nor does government receive a financial cut. You can bet your life that if Big Pharma owned the patents on medical marijuana and could set monopolistic prices on it, pot would be perfectly legal to own and smoke. That is, as long as you got it from a pharmacy where prices and distribution could be controlled.
