    Hey Folks!

    Got a question for ya!

For those of you that sell clothing, what bust measurements do you use for your dresses and shirts? I want to have a variety of sizes for all body types. What bust measurements do you use for small, medium, large and extra large?

    Thanks!

When choosing a pattern to sew, one should always choose the upper bust measurement, not the full bust. The upper bust will give you the best fit in the neck and shoulder areas. These are much harder to fit/alter than the bust. Most patterns are drafted to a B cup, the most common bust size. i am a DD, which is why i make many of my own clothes. Larger bust sizes will pull up the front waist, as it takes more fabric for front length. Smaller bust sizes will wrinkle because of excess fabric in front length. Both cases will require altering, which is possible only if there is sufficient seam allowance and even then is not always possible.

As sizes go up from S to M to L to XL, they are graded on all measurements, not the bust measurement alone.

Sorry there is no easy answer.
