So, at just 7 weeks postpartum, I started my period...yay (sarcastic)...

But anyway, I didn't put 2 and 2 together until just now, but the past few days, since my period started, Moire's been VERY fussy. She's sleeping a lot more and eating more, and fussing more...The only thing that comforts her is if I hold her almost constantly...

Is it possible, even though I'm not nursing her, that my period is messing my poor baby up?

I wouldn't see how, unless your baby has psychic powers

have you noticed anything unusual about your baby, such as chaneling thoughts to you or making shit levitate?

Okay, I know you're being silly, but think about it...

Women living within close quarters eventually begin to have their periods at the same time. Their menstruation affects the women around them, and they aren't psychic and don't suckle...Menstruation, IMO, has more than just a physical affect...

But I'd like other mother's opinions.

You aren't thinking about the fact that you generally don't start menstrating until you are older than 7...let alone 7 months. If your daughter IS starting to get oms now, boy you are in for the long haul with this one! But seriously, all psychic powers aside, if she is acting like something is wrong, then maybe there IS something messing with her. Have you thought about her diet, allergies, teething or maybe the fact that she is just being a newborn....really. Babies go through phases, kids go through phases, adult go through them all the time. My baby is almost two, I've been there, done that. In fact I am STILL doing it. And I think you are just being a over worried mama. If she wasn't hungry almost all the time, and didn't sleep amost 18 hours a day, and if she was not wanting you to hold her all the time......then maybe you could worry about your daughter having PMS and what not.....To sum it up, babies eat so much in order to grow so much. Babies cry and fuss all the time becasue the haven't learned how to talk. And babies need a lot more sleep than an adult, again, because their little bodies are growing so much. hope this helps put things into perspective for you.

7 weeks is just the right time for a growth spurt!

it's probably a growth spurt. Yes, my girls do get extra fussy when I'm suffering PMS, but mostly that's because it makes me a raving bitch for a day before AF starts. Mama's moods affect the whole family.

When you are menstruating you do throw off phermones, which babies are sensitive to. There is nothing supernatural about this, it just happens. I do think the majority of this may be a growth spurt, but I know my most sensitive child would get crabby when I menstruated, and many of my clients have asked me if their babies could "catch" PMS. I think it is probably a combination of things, and the menstruation adds to it. Hold her and love her and it will be OK in a few days.

On a related note: many babies can detect (smell) the pheremones which occur during sex. This is why so many babies wake up while you are going at it. This is more adaptive than you think. Babies have a better survivial rate if a sibling doesn't follow too quickly after their own.

well, i have a very strong period pull....inherited from my mom....my mother's friends would start thiers whenever they came over and she was on hers, even if they'd just finished.

and i started my period the first time during the first cycle my mom SHOULD have had her period after her hysterectomy, and now my friends start whenever i'm on my period, no matter if they just finished...

and because my pull is so strong, i think maybe she's feeling the effects. i mean, she comes from my family...makes sense if she carries that menstrual sensitivity.

^^ huge flippin' problem and the girl needs a doc...yesterday.

freek, I had a crabby babe when my periods resumed..and I've a son.
YOU are more sensitive, so the babe most likely picks up on your agitation...or it all gets to you worse.
In other words, it's you. so no worries.

wow! We also thought she had perfect timing! Riley ALWAYS wakes up and crys while we have sex. Thats so funny... now I know why she does it. I had a feeling it was more than just a coincidence.
