Naqoyqatsi: one of the best movies EVER.

The movie consists of video that has been dramatically altered through various techniques. Basically it's an artistic depiction of the drastic change that's occuring across the planet today. No actors, no plot, just a visual and musical barrage that will leave you stunned. It's just unbelieveably good.

The makers of that movie should be given the most modern Omnimax equipment and a cinema of their own. And a re-up on their acid supply, cuz those guys must eat a lot of it

 

hmmm, something doesnt make sense....it says it's out october 18th, but i've already seen that movie...it fucking blew my mind. maybe i saw it at a film festival but i KNOW i've seen that movie and it KICKED ASS. i recognize the soundtrack too and apparently it's an original score by yo yo ma, which only strengthens my resolve that i've already seen this.

anyways.you all must see this....when it comes out?

 

Is this any different from koyaanisqatsi?...the er original film where Mr Glass did some fab music that pretty much goes with any film background of ambiguous going ons....I like the explosion in the sky though and how the mother of all zoom lenses follows the wreckage down....very nice to watch if your stoned.

hmmmm...maybe thats the one i saw..i DO remember it having a heavy environmental feel and thats part of the description or your movie...i dunno...i just don't know. i seem to remember a lot of the scenes shown in the trailer for the other movie too.... maybe this new one is a hard core rip off of the old one...or maybe it's the same director who makes movies: 'Our Lady Peace style' (every song sounds the same)

edit- nope thats not it...your movie came out in 1983 and the one i saw was much more recent than that.

 

Naqoyqatsi is part three of the trilogy: Koyaanisqatsi and Powaqatsi are the first two parts, and yes, they are all excellent. Especially loved the fractal section of Naqoyqatsi, really nice! Generally Naqoyqatsi is slightly different to the first two films as it uses computer technology and manipulated images whereas the first two don't as far as I can remember. All great stuuf though.

 

im thinking of buying a dvd box containing koyaanisqatsi and powaqatsi. I've only seen koyaanisqatsi. Is powaqatsi any good?

 

I've only seen the third one, rented it a while ago. It was a good movie, but i hear that the third is'nt as good. I have'nt seen the other two, so I can't really compare.
