So my girlfriend dumped me last week, I wont go into the details, because they are irelevant and it just hurts to keep going over and over.

She was my first true love, unfortunatley it didnt all go to plan! :( ... so i'm fairly new to all these emotions.

I understand there are phases with coping with a break up.

For me its gone something like
    - shock/fear
    - A week of nearly non stop crying
    - hatred of my ex
    - a fourth feeling which i am about to describe..

..im currently in between the third and fourth.
It feels like a sort of emptiness/loss and a kind of emotional ache that won't seem to shift. It feels like it will stay for a long time aswell. No matter how busy i keep my self, it is still there menacing in the back ground...

im sure others have experienced this, any ideas how to get rid of it, or atleast make it go quicker? Thanks!

No worries dude, u just need some time and some substance abuse. I know how bad it hurts and ur not the only one to feel that kind of pain. Just get with another girl real quickly, and the more fun you have with that girl the less you will feel for the other.
Trust me it worked for me.

p.s. Dont cry it makes you look like a pussy. You can thank me later

If you want to cry about it then do so. My boyfriend cried when I broke up with him, and then he came back and realized he was an asshole... oh yeah anyway.

So yeah, I know what you mean about being stuck between feelings. I have been there and the truth is you really do get over it. And it really does just take some time. I know everyone says the same thing and it is hard to deal with because you just want the feeling to stop. But really you just need to keep yourself occupied.

When me and Jer broke up one summer 4 years ago, that is when I discovered these forums. (see I knew we broke up for a good reason!) That lead me to get more involved in politics and other things that I was interested in.

You'll figure it all out. Hope you feel better soon. :)

Me too! It is the passion I think. When I'm comfortable I find it hard to write, but when I'm fired up about something I could write 10 poems. The best ones I've done were at the beginnings and ending of things going on in my life.

You cannot get rid of it. What you can do is replace it with more memories no matter how much thoughts of your rl come back to you. And likely it won't stop hurting this much for months or years. First love breakups (when they're bad) are REALLY bad. Take it easy. Keep busy.

Sorry to hear about the breakup.

The thing is, you feel those emotions because you need to. Trust me, I totally understand how upsetting it can be. But you have to let yourself go through some mourning period so that you can get all the negative emotions out of your system. Time will heal your wounded soul, mate.

In the meantime, do more art. Dump your feelings in it so you're not stuffed full of negative emotions. Like you and many others, I've found I tend to come up with some fantastic work during such times.

    All the best.
