My toenail on my big toe is gonna fall off. This has never happened to me. Do I wait for it to come off on its own, or help it along (read: yank it off)?

I got in a car accident a while back, must have stubbed my toe pretty bad when i landed (I was on a bicycle). Doesn't hurt though. I just don't know what to do.

i'd say leave it be.. let nature take it's course.. you might open an old wound and it'll take longer to heal

Let it fall off. The nail below will grow and push it off. Mine took 6 months to fall off. Then went surfing with tight boots on and it got ingrown, so had to stuff cotton between my toe and nail for a couple of weeks. Finally I now have a normal toenail back.

Well, it's gotten pretty loose. But you're right, I probably don't want to go ripping things open.

It happened to my ma or sister. Just go to the doc and have it checked out and more than likely he'll just put a bandage on it for protection until it regrows.

Don't rip it off! You can cause more damage, not to mention the fact that it could possibly lead to infection. Let it be, maybe put a bandaid over it at the most.

Boy, I hope I'm not grossing anyone out with this. But hey, at least you guys don't have to LOOK at it...

Anyways, I'll leave it, but it's so loose that it really pisses me off, if only that one side would let go!
