government spending on schools... at my old tafe they offered the golden handshake to the teaching staff. alot the the best teachers took the money and disappeared to better things. alot of the worst staff refused to take the money because they knew that no-one would employ them. the library carpet, infested with biting insects, limited funds, books that also had insects in them and abnormally hot in summer and agreeable in winter was given of all things, the biggest heater i've ever seen. it sat blocking one of the windows and was never used. why was it put in? because the campus manager had 60,000 left over to spend. supposedly he wasn't allowed to spend it on things like relevant materials such as books teaching materials etc. at one point the entire tafe was stricken with an ongoing flu epidemic. ill, sat in class i looked around at half the class ill and started searching for answers. i suddenly realised that the desks and commonly touched surfaces such as handles and phones weren't being disenfected. i approached the campus manager and was told "germs cannot live on hard smooth surfaces" which flew in the face of germ theory. then again for a man who allowed his office and the campus offices to be infested with rats i should never have been surprised. by the end of 1998 classes were being cancelled and main subjects being taught by teachers with no experience. i say, rather than spending a fortune on school buildings employ good teachers spend on relevant teaching materials cut the admin - it is bloated and as long as the roof doesn't leak and the kids aren't too hot or cold the seats are comfortable everything will work out just fine.
My School Was Closed Down For 4 Months For Repairs, Coz The Classrooms Were Not Up To Standard, We Had Leaks In The Rooms, Missing Windows, Broken Toilets, And No Air Cooling, Which Was Ok Coz We Were Sent Home On Hot Days.... TAFE waz Ok, Bit Chaddy Round Tha Edges, But More Looked After...
