half the people here in Tamarindo walk around barefoot. seriously. And if not bare feet its flip-flops. Course it is a beach town...
Here in the US people are too into their worldly fashions, too attached to their shoes and socks. Sad isn't it.
Yes. AND, though it's the freest nation on earth, we're a nation of control freaks. Sorry, but I keep coming back to that. BF is a major no-no for most.
americans assume that shoes are cleaner than bare feet.. ask any shoe wearer.. "whens the last time you washed your shoes?" they probably don't know.. if i's ever even been done.. a barefooter could tell you probably down to the exact time they were washed and how.. hehehe
I wouldn't exactly consider it the freest nation as long as we're not allowed to run around BF whenever and wherever we want. We are pretty restricted.
Correct, and the worse part is there are no valuable arguments against BF. The only arguments I have heard are: It is something you just don't do or it's gross or why don't you act normal.
I'm agreeing with you, and perhaps I should have said, "supposedly the freest nation," or something like that. You are right. The restrictions here, on such things as being BF, are totally ridiculous, and that's why I keep coming back to the control freak thing.
And yet we still are able to go about barefooted with out being thrown in jail. It's only on private property (stores-malls-etc) that the rules are applied. I can and do run around BF whenever I want. I have only been restricted from 1 retail shop in the last 60 days. which isn't that bad. And in that time I haven't recieved any memorable negative reactions. any and all curious new barefooters need to be encouraged not discouraged.
