bottles and cans are the same thing. But the real way to drink beer, is out of a properly cold tap, into a thick, cold glass with a sandblasted bottom. Drinking out of a thick glass, and storing the glass in the freezer preserves the coldness of the beer, making it good to the last drop. The sandblasting creates bubbles that protect the flavor of the beer. After traveling around Australia, I will always prefer drinking out of a glass, but we just don't do it as well is the states as in Sydney. Just not the same.
Bottle. I don't think i've ever drank beer from a glass/mug/schooner. IMO soft drinks and energy drinks are the only drinks that taste better in a can than a bottle.
no matter what kind of beer it is (unless it's really really cheap) it will taste better when served in the proper glass. i'll drink a beer out of the right kind of glass if it's at all possible, and sometimes i even prefer the wrong glass to a bottle depending on the beer.....if it's cheap beer i still prefer a glass, because i tend to drain cheap beer really quickly when possible and it's easier to down a glass than a bottle or can which will fizz up a lot if you try to drink a lot quickly....
I prefer Guinness from the tap first, then can, then bottle. I dont like the Guinness here in the states in bottles as much. When I went to Jamaica the guinness was all in bottles and very different and delish. Anything but crap beer goes in a glass
guinness on tap is ok, but i find both the bottled and canned guinness draught to be rather on the bland side. not bad at all, just not exciting. i do, however, greatly enjoy bottles of guinness extra stout. i'd prefer murphy's irish stout or young's double chocolate stout to guinness draught any day of the week.
the bottle of course. i usually don't drink beer at restaurants so glasses haven't really been an option for me.
At home directly from the can. In a bar in a can or bottle, whatever it comes in. If it is draft beer, in a plastic cup when I'm in my hometown. I'll drink a draft from a glass when away from home. I'm a bartender and waiter. I deal with high maintence customers all the time. There is no way I'll become one of those "I need a glass individuals". BTW, I have worked in a number of bars over the years, you are better off drinking from the can or bottle.
I could do a bottle, would rather have a glass, and I don't drink beer that comes in cans. Sorry, beer snob.
I'm a real unladylike chick, I drink it from the bottle, where ever I am (mainly quart bottles) it's in a glass already, is my reasoning!
I have not bothered to read through the entire thread here, but first let me say that I prefer bottles myself. Seems like you can taste the can when drinking from it, and as for glasses, well, I only use a glass if I am in a better restaurant. Anyway, what I wanted to ask was that if anyone besides me notices a different taste to beers that are bottled in green bottles, or brown bottles, or clear bottles. Seems like the color of the bottle affects the taste of the beer in some way, maybe because of the different amount of light to hit it?Beers in green bottles such as used for Heineken, St Pauli Girl, Becks, Rolling Rock, etc. seem to be more bitter than beers in brown bottles and beer in clear bottles seem to be more watery than the rest. Whatcha all think on this? Oh, and by the way, the best beer in the world is Anchor Steam beer brewed in San Francisco. My opinion anyway. :<))
