This is a link to a video I discovered at David Icke's website: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4778507074363208869&q=death+of+internet It concerns the issue of internet service providers taking away your freedom on the internet. Basically, they could take your internet connection through them adn control which sites work, don't work, go faster, slow down and get blocked from your computer when you try to connect to them. They will try to aim your searches for programs and softwares towards their own products(in the video they used the example of comcast slowing down iTunes so much people with that provider would look elsewhere to get music). It also takes a look at the privatization of the net. You will have to pay more to blog, put up a site....or maybe even post somethin here in the forums Take a look at this video, its worth the 5 minutes, I swear, if you like your internet connection to information all over the world, you need to see this video.
lol @ David Icke. Seriously man, the chap has no credibility. It's through 'interesting' pieces like this that people get sucked in. Have you read some of Icke's other claims? I suppose some of it makes pretty funny reading but is essentially very warped stuff. But then I might be a reptilian humanoid from the constellation Draco for saying that.
You're the one with no credibility. I'd believe a man who's researched and published his claims, along with very compelling evidence, over some wackoff on a net forum parroting the official line about "reality" and "conspiracy wackos". Read his work before comdemning it.
Also I forgot to add, usually his supporters are of a rather vociferous type and will point blank refuse to admit that anything the man has written could be anything other than the truth. This is generally because you, by disagreeing with Icke, are inferior and of a weak mind, you don't know the bigger picture and bumble around day to day in your mundane life whilst the Ickites really know what goes on behind closed doors. Sadly this tends to happen quite a lot, suppose my mind isn't really up to all that now I think about it. You believe a man who's researched and published his claims, along with very compelling evidence. (I promise I won't go on about the reptiles too long as I know it's a touchy subject but) for the benefit of everyone else here less familiar with the Great Man's work, care to enlighten folk on the reptilian thing again? Or perhaps the compelling evidence re: 9/11? Or Diana's death? Or....? You see the reason why I am critical of all this is because I believe that the 'evidence' simply doesn't make any real sense. Yes, I have read his work and find much of it to be little more than pseudo spiritual new agy nonsense and the rest completely overblown paranoid nonsense. Some of it is compelling reading admittedly and I wouldn't say I disagree with everything the man has written but on the whole it's pretty trashy. For a fairly unbiased view take a peek at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Icke and have a read for yourselves, those who aren't familiar with Icke. Make your own minds up. I'm stupidly late and have to go but expect more later when I get back....
There was an article in the papers a week or two ago about making the internet more like how you pay for basic cable, or premium.
Ok, had to search.. http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&ie=UTF-8&q=net+neutrality&btnG=Search+News Bunch of articles, big fight about net neutrality.
Well, I don't know much at all about Icke, i was simply directed to that site adn teh first thing i found was the death of the internet vid which I thought was very interesting. Whether or not the man's a whacko, and has "no credibility", give the video a try, its not just "facts" being spit out. Its mostly interviews with people in the industry.
His work is very credible. I'm sure there's nothing I can say to convince you, so I won't bother trying. I do not accept everything he says as fact however. I accept it when he provides the evidence to back it up, which he does.
forget whos talking about it.the real issue as drew172 said it is real interviews so its no bull.anything for a dollar i think i pay enough for my service with the internet.this is just like everything else in life you start to love it the way it is then it has to become all about money.what a drag
Well companies want to control the internet to make money, which is understandable. Their vision is the cell phone industry where you get charged for every little thing.
How come here in California where deregulation of the phone system lead to the breakup of the Bell System, it's now again owned by ATT, and they are bent on charging for what they call premium accounts? What are those premium accounts, people who pay more for unlimited access to web content. We already pay for telephone access and airwaves, why do we have to pay more to be insured unlimited access. Wake up folks. These guys are getting rich on free rights to the airwaves granted by the FCC, now they want more and want to limit the small user. And they won't stop there, they will censor and control the records of our internet use, if we don't stop them. They argue it's to offset their costs of keeping up with technology. How come the little guys up until now, never complained. Now in the time of consolidation and fewer, bigger companies owning everything, they want total control.
What you are seeing on the Internet, on the airwaves, and going on in secret (with Bushit's spies being everywhere) is that if it's technologically feasible, and they can profit from it, THEY WILL DO IT! So whether it's controling your computer's access to websites (which Google already does for most people), or monitoring your every action in this electronic world (which the CIA, NSA and other agencies are doing very well), they will do it if they can. And if there's existing laws against it, they will either change those laws (you should see how many privacy policies are being changed right now to allow companies & the gov't to snoop further into your lives), or do it illegally, as Bush & Cheney have done. So don't deny the truth when it's something that is so easily accomplished by greedy Internet companies. Not only will you pay more for what is now free or reasonable, but indeed your ACCESS to information will be more restricted in the future as our fascist leaders try to keep the masses misinformed and complacent. When will people rise up against this unlimited fascism?
This should not be allowed to happen, this is the single most important thing the youth of today can prevent. But will they? I have grave doubts, but they are the ones that will have to live with it.
Look, here Congress is considering giving Internet companies the ability to set different prices for different levels of service, just as the thread starter tried to point out... http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/06/29/060629142420.sjgi9r1e.html
So those that can pay more get better freer access, that's the democratic way isn't it???? NOT NOT NOT!
It looks like they are trying to create a class society on the internet, which is classless at the moment.
The internet is one of the most important events to happen in our lifetime. It has changed the world in may ways. Does it really surprise you, knowing this regime (and it's history)!! That this government would just leave it alone & not try and take over control of it. What your saying is correct and is backed by merit and fact. But keep in mind the nasty thing about power. Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely!!!
