I tend to be annoyed by the younger crowd in the forums, like the 14/15/16 year olds. I feel bad about it, because I know that I was their age only a few years ago. I can't help it, but whenever I read something stupid here, it's usually posted by a younger person. I hate to generalise all the young posters in one group, but a whole lot of them seem like posers, like they're all trying to be the stereotypical "hippie".( I could name names, but I wont)
Subconsciously, you want to be young again and thats why you can't stand youth and the way young kids act and talk. Lets face it, growing up sucks and most adults would rather be kids again. Theres no shame in it but you have to admit it at some point.
Im pretty sure I have posted some annoying thingson here. No doubt, but I do know this that we grow all of us. You have grown past the part where MOST people my age including me are at. But I do understand the poser people, I remeber reading a post about if im not a veggie does it mean im not a true hippie? Like WTF...just be you...I don;t even consider my self a hippie...at all! I have been told I am a hippie and I take it as a comlment. But I came to this forum not to seek being a hippie...or even acomplish that. I came because I found that people on here give great advice, and there are more topics on here that I can talk about and share my opinion on. Not like a teen forum or some other one. This is a more layed back forum in my opinion and I like it here. And I do aoplogise if I have ever annoyed any of you. But this is who I am...
There is a quote that i half remember. The gist of it is that truly wise people do not think of themselves as wise. Dammit. that doesn't sound right. If anyone knows the quote i'm rambling on about, post it up.
younger people in general tend to piss me off, it ranges from 5 year olds to 14 year olds for me. But then some old people piss me off to, like oprah that dumb bitch.
I'm not annoyed by all young people, I want to get that straight. It's just that, I hate when people(not just young people, but it is mostly young people) think that wearing a Jim Morrison tshirt and having Pink Floyd songs on their I-Pod makes them an authentic hippie. They're easily influenced and will go along with anything as long as it makes them look more "hippie". And I'm sorry to say this, but I've encountered a whole lot of young people on the forums are like that, and in real life too. *awaiting angry feedback* :H
"just be you...I don;t even consider my self a hippie...at all! I have been told I am a hippie and I take it as a comlment" so true...
"To be a non-conformist, you have to wear the same clothes as us, and listen to the same music we do" Hahahaha.
I have to say that I was quite amused to see that LizardQueen is 18, and annoyed by the younger crowd. Proof that everything is relative. Being an ancient hippie of 51, of course I consider her to be of the younger crowd. It won't be long before those few years are meaningless. The difference between 28 and 26, for example is virtually indistinguishible. Maybe it's the aging process, but I don't find younger people near so annoying as I do interesting. It brings back fond memories of my own youth. We all went through various stage of learning and maturing.
i think that the people on this board, regardless of age, are more mature than those of their respective peer groups. the younger teenagers here are more acepting to new things and different types of individuals than the people ive known in real life, and even though there are some kids here who seem a little annoying, remember theyre still growing mentally, and may not be as clued up to things as those who are older than themselves may be. although saying all that, instead of working ive been spinning round my little office on my chair like a 7 yr old... mabye im not so mature. and im not sure if what ive typed above makes any sense either.
I find it refreshing that a community of people ranging from the youth to the old hippies can commune together in an environment conducive to the free market place of ideas and form a common bond. I salute SKIP for his efforts and he is one of Libertine's REAL MEN OF GENIUS of the 21ST CENTURY.
I am 31 and wish that I could be 16 again, not that I am at all unhappy with my age but I just remember when I was 16 and everything seemed exciting and everything was possible. I like to read the younger peoples comments as sometimes I think their opinions and advice is a lot clearer and less influenced by bias's that I know I have develpoed with age.
^^^^^^ Yea i like it when they say things that I think are stupid, cause then i can go back in my mind and realize i prolly felt the exact same way and wouldve have said something very similar, not that im that old anyway but..., plus id much rather see a 16 year old in a grateful dead shirt than in a polo shirt with a popped collar even if they are just trying to be stereotypical.
if anyone reading this has kids, I liken it to knowing what stage of development the child is in, knowing the expectations and limitations of each stage...you don't stop that learning and growing and changing just because you become an "adult" (if you're lucky ) [soapbox] a person who is 14 has a more limited scope of experience (usually) than an 18 year old, so has a smaller "palette" so to speak with which to express him/herself..and as we experience more we become more confident and unique..and as we grow older, the age difference minimizes so it's kind of like a circle [/soapbox] (did that make any sense?)
