I tried to kill a deer earlier this evening...

i like them. they're pretty. and it felt nice to see something besides an overabundance of manmade things. it was a very treehugger filled area, you see?

only bad thing was when there are skunks... the dog smelled so bad...

 

I don't mind skunks, I don't see many around.

This reminded me, there's some guy that lives in my town that has a pet deer. It's so odd. He made a deer door for it

i want a pet pig. but my dad wont let me, so i have to wait til i live somewhere i can..

 

First of all: I don't eat them or any meat for that matter.
Two: you are not considered nature anymore. So if anyone has the right to kill a deer its most likey a black bear.
Three: Don't get me started on factory farms.:$

In most places black bears and other predators have become extinct, and overpopulation plagues these areas. It's for the good of the deer.

 

So it is cruel to kill a deer quickly and relatively painlessly with a rifle, but somehow less cruel to let a deer get paralyzed by a black bear and then munched on before it is dead?

 

We have an overpopulation of Black Bears here... I see them all the time at work. There are tons of Grizzlies too.

 

Hm. That's pretty damn cool.

Hunting probably attracts many people to your area?

 

With all this talk of killing deer I was wonder if anyone here had ever seen that clip from "The Man Show" where they strap a fake dead deer on the hood of a car and greet people walking into a grocery store. More fishing, but yeah, lots of hunting. Well, poaching now. Black bear season ended 11 days ago.

Seriously though, black bears are like big dogs, for the most part. They aren't terribly dangerous except in certain rare situations.

 

Yeah, I'd be scarred shitless if I came across a bear.

 

sloth bears are awesome. we have one at the zoo. thats totally what i want to be my next life.

 

I'm not quite sure what a sloth bear is.

However, panda bears are kind of cool.

 

its a bear.. that moves slow, like a sloth.

 

depends on the situation. probably the worst case scenario is if you encounter a predacious black bear. it'll stalk you for hours, and for the most won't back away. if you're in a group (assuming 3 people), it'll wait for one person to get separated. then, it'll charge, but unlike most bear charges, it won't be a bluff. assuming you play dead, it'll eat part of you while you're still alive.

still, people have fought them off.

 

Yeah, being eaten alive would be pretty awful.

 

i've had to use mace and bear bangers before.

 

i could never hunt an animal
