So in about two and a half hours I will be on my way to Norfolk Virginia. I'm so excited for this road trip that my head is about to explode. Not really. But I am really excited. I'm going down with three other friends to see the band Brand New play a show ... I'm not sure what the venue is, but i'm sure they serve alcohol, so I it's cool in my book.
They're playing the Norva tonight... when you go in there, you'll have this metal bar attached to the stage. Ahah, on the left hand side where the security always stands is where I always stand. Tip: Park in the MacArthur center parking garage across from Monticello street (there'll be this park/grass lawn you have to cross to get from that garage to the Norva)... it's two dollars and is the cheapest one. Alcohol is really expensive there... beer is $5 for domestic, I think, in 12oz plastic bottles, $4 for miller high life. I'd advise you to get crunk in the parking garage before the show. I've smoked a blunt in the parking garage elevator... in front of security. I could meet you there tonight, after I get off of work. I live just a little over 30 minutes away. If it was up to me, I'd let you stay here so you wouldn't have to pay for hotels or anything.
Whoa George ... you live that close to it? Thanks for the tip about the parking, I was kinda stressing about that. What else is there to do around there? Were gonna get there pretty early.
There's the mall... uhhh, you could head on I-264 south for about 20 more minutes and you'll be in Virginia Beach, or you could get on 58 (VA Beach Blvd.) and head down there. There's also the Jewish Mother (a club/restaurant), Slapwater Jack's (club), uhhh.. oh, tip: if you eat in the backstage grille, they'll let you into the venue early. Lotsa stuff to do around there. Ahah, the first time I drove to the norva, I freaked out because you have to drive through a ghetto area on Granby street/Tidewater drive and stuff. There's also the oceanfront in Norfolk... and if the Hampton-Roads Bridge Tunnel (HRBT) is backed up, find the Monitor-Merrimac Tunnel if it's a long delay. Lotsa semi-trucks wreck in the tunnels. Also, 106.9 the fox should give traffic updates. It's hard to get to, but I know Eastern Virginia like the back of my hand. I live around Yorktown/Williamsburg... specifically Gloucester. I'm just a little ways off I-64, on US-17N (BR).
Wow ... you hooked me up. So the beach is only 20 minutes from the venue?! That's freakin awesome. I don't know what everyone else is gonna wanna do, but I sure as hell wouldn't mind checking out Virginia Beach, i've never been there before. Thanks for all the info man ... I'm gonna have to print this out.
I want to go to New Jersey and New York. and Boston. ... but I want to be there long enough to pick up an accent
