I'm going to paint lamp, it's plastic. I was just wondering what kind of paint would be best for heat resistance, if any.

Are you painting the lamp base or the lamp shade? I have painted the lamp base before with aryclic paint and it has held up.

It's actually the shade. It's really close to the light bulb as well, like a desk lamp. How do you post pictures? I'd like to show what I mean

This is the lamp I want to paint. The red, white and blue shades are plastic and pretty close to the light bulbs. If I use acrylic paint would it melt?

Yeah that would melt if it got hot enough. Use paint that is used to decorate windows and glass. You could also use canvas fabric to put around the outside and paint it, and give it a protective coating.

    Just suggestions. Good luck. :)

I don't think acrylic would melt. Maybe burn... but once it dries it will never liquify again.
