I got into a discussion with a friend about what state the movie Deliverence is based. Neither one of us could remember with certainty what state it was. Could somebody please end this arguement?
Excellent film. Love the duelling banjos scene. Absolute classic. Here's another question: Whatever happened to Burt Reynolds?
Deliverance was so good...such a classic. I love the part when they're going down the river and they look up at the suspended wooden bridge and see the kid (with no eyes?) standing there... so creepy!
i always thought the hill billies were quite charming people in the movie, no doubt eccentric though. i can only think that burt reynolds and company were obviously caught up in some quaint custom of stalking and buggerising tourists ( perhaps after the pink dollar?).
Great movie! The atmosphere throughout the whole film makes it... ... I think Burt got lost on the Cannonball Run
nonononono,, it was filmedon the chatuge in rabun county it was based on the damming of carters lake also here in north ga
I have the dvd and i love it! (Hillbilly Chatter) -> He got a really purdy mouth aint he? -> Emm Panties, take off that lil ole bitty shirt there too!
Deliverance is a classic! I love the Dueling Banjo's scene My other favorite part is where Jon Voight's character says "What is it that you require?" and the redneck guy is all "Well.. we Re-quire that you get your damn ass up in them woods" Hilarious.
I think in the movie and book they called it the "Tallulawasee" or something close to that, but it was an invented name. The filming was done on the Chatooga and Tallulah rivers, and the lake based on Lake Hartwell, near the town of Hartwell, GA. My great-grandfather was born in Hartwell GA, so I'd like to point out for the record that I think all ya'll have purdy mouths. And that river don't run to no Hartwell.
It was called the the Cahulawassee River in the movie. Don't know about the book b/c I've never read it, lol. =D "Wurr you goin city boy!!" "Ain't nuthin but the biggest fuckin river in the state" Great movie! I have it on DVD.
The book is good. I read it when I was ... I dunno, maybe age 12-15 or so, it was pretty new then. I remember thinking how kewl my dad was for loaning me the book, knowing it had some pretty rough things in it. After reading it, I wanted to write a sequel, where he comes out of delirium realizing that he'd just dreamed that they covered their tracks well- but that he had to go back into the gorge for some reason or other. Yeah, it never came to be...
