they are pressing pretty hard for pittsburgh... and they've been selling out manitoba moose games like mad. with the new cap rules, i don't see why they can't afford a team. a canadian city is probably the equivalent of an american one four times its size in terms of hockey market.
quote: I'd disagree about how complicated hockey is. To really be able to enjoy it, you need to understand the strategy. don't get me wrong. I think you should understand the game to really enjoy it, but someone in Anaheim who pays attention should not be dissed just becuse they happen to live in southern california, if they follow it. Its not a sport owned by one region or another, it should be spread and it is. I understand what you are saying in regards to Carolina, there was no interest until they made the playoffs, and there is a legitimate arguement that a team with a half full arena should move to where a fanbase is...but i don't think it should be judged on whether a place gets snow or not. anyway, I think edmonton is a cool team, I think buffalo needs something good for the area, and it is hockey country...but hey, if carolina takes it, it would not bother me because they have an exciting team, no matter where it is....
PS I used to say similar things about Dallas, who I hate, but the area has proved me wrong, they have embraced hockey, and it has grown as a sport in that southern state whether i like it or not, and thats good for everyone..... if one team in america has to go, and I have no problem with a market in canada getting one back, I'd say liquidate the fuckin' Florida Panthers Pittsburgh is a good hockey town
Pittsburgh is a good hockey town in no sense of the word. They both can't fill an arena, and can't win a game (despite good draft pick after good draft pick).
its just a poor town spoons, but like i said, teams should move to where they can fill arenas, so if it happens so be it
i doubt that - find me a source. but really, winning 2 cups 15 years ago doesn't really mean anything. being a good hockey city means carrying a team through thick and thin - right now its thin, and pittsburgh dropped the penguins a long time ago. we'll have to see how malkin does - but even if they get hot again, its a fair weather town.
goin for the oilers now.... was going for my sens but a couple one goal games...and alot of defencive errors and there goes the series if our offence/defence had been playing even to 65% of there potential it would have been a differnt series. but hey...thats hockey right.
so dissapointed in last nights game, the oilers were looking so good...but then roloson got hurt....they put in the other goalie and what was he doing behing the net?!?!?! tomorrow will be better
yeah conklin sucks... that was a routine play behind the net and he messed it up LARGE.... markannen sucks to... i hate to say it but I think edmonton is doomed.
^ markinen is a much better goalie then conklin, but with either of them in the net the players in front of him have no confidence, there in destroying the goalies moral with that said, edmontons done
pity on all the fools who counted them out against detroit, san jose, and anaheim i'm not quite ready to count them out against carolina, but with that win last night it's a major turning point, but carolina hasn't been beaten twice in a row since the first two games of the '06 playoffs
Roloson was also at the practice tuesday, and at the warm up wednesday, so he must be better, but i don't think they're gunna pull Markkanen, he's doin extremely well
what?!?!?! I've been in the bush for the past week so I missed games 3, 4 and 5 but from what I've seen from them the rest of the playoffs they've had the best defence hands down. Pronger is a wall of hurt and Smith is a fiery eyed mad-man and time and time again I've seen the BEST shot blocks from their D, these guys will put themselves infront of anything. One shot the other night a guy took on the ribs, like that's suicidal in the world of hockey. Looks like all guns are firing, thier power play looked real hot on saturday, they were killing them on forchecking, shutting down thier play and boxing them in, they're doing EVERYTHING right, Carolina is exhausted. It'll still be a shit storm tonight but I think Edmonton is going to come out on top and I personally am looking forward to the first 3 game deficit turn-around since '42. LET'S GO OILERS!
Yet again the cup remains away from Canada I'm really starting to believe that Bettman is having these games fixed, for the southern team to win. Draws more attention that way down there. Since he's taken over, no Canadian team has won the cup I guess he thinks Canadians will remain with the game always...Unforuntaly for him, Football is starting to creep up there with Hockey in this country! (Go Esks Go) I also predict Vancouver and Florida to meet in the Cup finals next season, Panthers winning in 7 of course
I wanted the Oilers too, great run though, too bad the fair weather fans of Carlina get to celebrate.
how could you possibly think florida will be in the finals next year... especially with luongo possibly getting traded lol but yeah sucks the cup is still in the states...go sens go
