I didnt realise Oasis had much of a US fan base - best concert ever was Oasis in Manchester..... they played so much from Definitely maybe.

nah NME is a load of bollocks. it worships and up and coming new London band or any band that do drugs excessively (i dont have a problem with this, but even if theyre shite, the NME is sooo up there arse) and won't stop idolisin them till every other magazine/site/radio station admits theyre shite.

its a load of bandwagon shit, not the NME of 70's gold.

Respected music critics everywhere disagree with this statement.

Obviously the poll doesn't hold much water, but this is still pretty fucking awesome.

The Stone Roses at number seven? Eh... I'm not a fan at all. I heard so much good stuff about it, bought it, and it's just nothing great to me. I'm more surprised about The Stone Roses at number seven than Oasis at number one, actually. :p

a coupla years ago the observer had The Stone Roses as the best album of time... all subjective innit....

But yah, NME... not worth the paper it's printed on.... hasn't been for over a decade....

I've not been able to figure out what's so good about them, either... I enjoy their second album more than their first, actually.

I think that Oasis have gone crap now, and are long past their glory years.

There was one album that they released during the 90s that was fantastic, and I can't remember the exact name of it, but I can name some of their class songs:-

    Roll with it,
    Wonderwall,
    Hello,
    Champagne Supernova,
    She's Electric,
    What's the story morning glory,
    Some Might Say

    And many more.

    ACE ALBUM!!!

Either you are being sarcastic or taking the piss. I don't know about the critics out there, but in the UK, Oasis are not in good light. We have grown up with each new Oasis album being promised to cap the first 2, and dissapointments is an understatement, they haven't just been lacklustre, they have been absoblute shite. Don't Believe the Truth is the one exception in about 10 years.

no other music critics matter when put up against allmusic.

    :H :D

And apart from Be Here Now, I really don't understand your "absolute shite" comment. I'm not going to say that SOTSOG or Heathen Chemistry are anywhere near as good as their first two or their recent one, but I really enjoy and respect a band that reinvents themselves after commercially succeeding on every level. This is especially true for SOTSOG....
    just look at Radiohead. :p

Strange because ...in an another british chart of the best album of all time from 2 years ago...
The Stone Roses were n 1 !! So this chart is not very serious...it can change from years to years or if you do the test in NYC ...LA ...Manchester...London...Frisco...or Detroit...the result will be different...
Even if i was a huge stone roses fan 5 years ago... i still found them good
The Guitar of John Squire on the 11 mn "I am the Resurrection" is just fantastic...surely at the same level of other giant mythic 11 mn 60's 70's tracks...
