http://headlines.sify.com/news/fullstory.php?id=13924046 So does this mean they'll kick out orthodox jews and evagelical christians who believe the bible is superior to secular laws? What on earth is going on here? The only way they can possibly be justified to kick someone out is if they were inciting violence against someone. They're kicking ppl out simply because of their beliefs. outrageous.
Assalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatu dear brother Ozy I think you misunderstood them, or I could be wrong, they meant, if they wanna live in Australia then they should follow the Australian constitution and law, Australia isn't Islamic country? they can immigrate to any other country, that's it. they didn't say that to the Muslims who think that Islamic shari'ah or Qur'aan superior to secular laws, No. Allah allowed us to make Higra. *Peace and love* Yours Sincerely, Cat Stevens
salaam, well that's what i thought initially as well. but the point of fact is that there a lot of different religious groups who believe that their laws are superior to the secular laws. it should target all of them, and force every group to submit to the nation's laws. that i would agree w/. and i do agree that we are can leave the nation if theres problems, but this just seems very one-sided.
Ozy I think there is no problem if the Muslims in Australia believe that their laws are superior to the secular laws, the problem is not to live under it, but under the Australian one. *Peace and love* Yours Sincerely, Cat Stevens
Look, this isnt about being religiously insensitive. When forieners enter a country and start preaching violence they are going to be deported. Not anything new, not anything wrong. If they werent religious there would be no controversy. What if it were a Klansman, or even some wierd cult? no complainst in those cases.
as i said before, i dont see anything about them preaching violence here. this is simply that they believe in shariah, and my argument is that there's lots of groups who believe divine law superscedes secular law. i wasnt aware anyone was in the business of deporting klansman. perhaps you can show me some places? i was under the impression that there was such a thing as free speech though. and i was under the impression that a simple expression of a belief wasnt enough to get you into trouble with the law. i agree if they were calling for violence, these ppl should get kicked out. but once again, this law was specifically geared towards ppl who express a belief. it's xenophobic to the extreme.
Hi SunshineTheAngryHipi If they were truly religious, truly following Islamic teaching, they won't preach violence *Peace and love* Yours Sincerely, Cat Stevens
catstevens, you continue to speak the truth. Ozy, i think your right to suspect somthing with past racism there and all, but this seems to be on the level. A simple belief can definatly be enough to get you in trouble with the law when that belief takes the form of hate toward a certain group + inciting followers. They are basicly telling these people that if they cant accept that Austrailia isnt an islamic state, they should move somewhere that is. just like the netherlands telling immigrants that nudity and gays are part of the culture there and must be accepted, if not approved of. Oh, and notice how the oposition group held their protest on Sept. 11? just sayin' peace
And if any REAL Muslim knows about Muslim terrorists , IF YOU ARE TRULY MUSLIM YOU SHOULD CALL THE POLICE RIGHT NOW, THEY HAVE NO PLACE HERE, GET OUT AND LEAVE US LIVE IN PEACE, you mean nothing to me *Peace and love* Yours Sincerely, Cat Stevens
Whether they were clerics or ordinary Muslims, IF you ARE TRULY MUSLIM DO SO, THEY ARE SATANS , SO DON,T support SATANS by leaving them doing whatever they want, CRIMINALS, AND IF ANY INOCENT MAN dies by their hands YOU TOO are responsible for that AREN'T YOU? SAVE PEOPLES' LIVES AND FEAR ALLAH,Qur'aan:Allah stated [005:032] ...if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind. And indeed, there came to them Our Messengers with clear proofs, evidences, and signs, even then after that many of them continued to exceed the limits in the land!. LOOK WHAT ARE THEY DOING, ARE THEY HUMAN BEINGS!!! THEY ARE EVEN KILLING OUR MUSLIM BROTHERS!!!SPIT ON SUCH PEOPLE *Peace and love* Yours Sincerely, Cat Stevens
look, i have a problem with them as much as anyone else. but it just seemed odd that they kick out a certain group for believing this, when i can guarantee that orthodox jews and evangelical christians are in the same boat. it should be a pretty blanket requirement to obey the laws of the nation, and shouldnt be geared only towards muslims. peace.
There's a few things that need to be considered. Australia is a christian country, sortof, and will thus be more tolerant of evangelical christians and such than those of other religious. Usually these christian are actually born in Australia, which means it's a bit hard to deport them. They have more right to these opinions than people who move here from other countries. It's quite simple really, if people are unhappy with the rules and the way the country, move away. No one forces people to stay here. Islam has gotten a bad rep lately, some of which is deserved. These clerics have been appointed to their position in some way and are meant to be representatives of islam. As such anything they say will be taken taken to represent the view of the whole muslim community. If muslims are unhappy with people taking this view, then they should speak out in the community aswell as appoint leaders who will represent them properly. Right now we think that Islam is trying to take over the world, based on what a few clerics say. Muslims think the west is trying to destroy Islam. It works both ways. Also, it must be said that people fear muslim extremists more than they do christian ones. This is because they have demonstrated the willingness to die for their cause and commit acts of terrorism more so than any christian as of late has. That isn't to say that most muslims are like that, just the "radical" ones. Just look at recent events such as 11/9, bali, etc. Why shouldn't we be worried? We are people too and we, like joe muslim, don't want to be killed. Then you have to ask yourself, would christian/atheist/Jewish "radicals" living in a muslim country such as Iran be allowed to do the same? I think not. They would most likely be killed by an angry mob. Probably the reason why not many live there? I have a question though, why do Muslims move to places such as Australia when there are obviously cultural incompatibility issues ? What is going on in your country of origin that makes it undesirable enough to want to move to Australia? Peace
Cerberus Many Muslims were born in Austraila And those Muslim terrorists who made them terrorists ? when did they appear in sucha way? They also are worried about the islamic countries which are invaded , they think there is no way but this. isn't about Jihad, they are angry, if whateva nation invaded your country would you welcome that? or become an insurgent or whateva, the west is continuing in invading islamic countries and meddling, noone is stopping them, they decided to do that by themselves, with any possible way . Bush said that he invaded iraq because God Jesus told him so. He is a Christian Terorist. Me too , I have a question, why do non-Muslims move to places such as middle-east when there are obviously cultural incompatibility issues ? What is going on in their country of origin that makes it undesirable enough to want to move to middle-east? *Peace and love* Yours Sincerely,Cat Stevens
Quite true. But I'm willing to bet that these sheik's who are appointed so are of a generation which wasn't born in Australia. Correct, Bush is a terrorist, though I doubt he is much of a Christian despite his claims. I don't support the War, many don't support the war. Bush didn't invade Iraq because god told him to, he invaded Iraq for oil/wmd or whatever other bullshit reason and then justified it to the bible belt by claiming god demanded it. Zealots of any religion are easily fooled. Spare me the smug attitude. It was a genuine question rather than a critisim. Non-muslims move to the middle east, which basically consititutes Dubai and a few others, which can hardly be considered a muslim only country. Oil countries have a alot of money they want to spend, thats whey they move there. My question still stands. Perhaps you'd like to comment on the rest of the post?
Cerberus I was talking about Muslims (ordinary ones) I think there are simlar answers ? and everyone has his reasons to go there. Is that all. *Peace and love* Yours Sincerely,Cat Stevens
Ozy I think this story shows this: Well, a theory says they actually doing such laws just to pressure on Muslims, actually according to number of reports Islam is growing in the west, something they don't want it, such pressures will force Muslims to leave the country, SO DO NOT LEAVE STAY WHERE YOU ARE. A Guardian/ICM poll published on July 26 last year showed that nearly half a million Muslims of the some 1.8 million minority contemplated leaving Britain due to the increasing harassments and racist attacks!!!!!!The Foreign Secretary Jack Straw himself said:“There have been Muslim communities in Europe for centuries,”“But it is true that in recent decades those communities have grown in size and that Islam is now the fastest growing religion here'' so again DO NOT LEAVEread this first then this and this*Peace and love* Yours Sincerely,Cat Stevens
