I've been thinking of where a hippie type person might enjoy eating. I don't get out much. In San Francisco, my favorite place was THE PORK STORE CAFE. http://sanfrancisco.citysearch.com/profile/904040/ Sorry, vegetarians, I'll give you footing on a separate post. But in Los Angeles (where I now live) I'm really hard pressed to come up with an idea. I used to say THE SOURCE... but that place has been changed over twice. So I have been pondering and the two separate responses that I have are Philippe's http://www.philippes.com/ (with sawdust on the floor) or Messob http://www.messob.com/ (an Ethiopian place on Fairfax) While I believe food = love I also believe in watching the ol' pocketbook. So what might YOUR picks be ?
I have wanted to check out Teany - Moby's resturant in NYC. I happen to enjoy Tealuxe, particularly the one in Cambridge. Get in, get out and I can go shop at the Garage with my tea. I'm a tea fiend. I know.
I'm not finding links.... but I like: in boise: fancy freeze, the trolley house, grannys, and... rembrandts. and the flying M. in san diego: souplantation, in and out (and I oppose it being a tourist place), and oscars. (there would be more, but i dont remember it too well). in the bay area: left bank, scoops (ice cream), the amsterdam cafe, new york pizza (i think thats what its called.. i only have the part of their flyer that says free coke now hahah), the burrito hole, redhill chinese food (the last two arent the right names, I just lived there and its what my friends and i called it), and... an italian place in the city, and a crepe place in the haight. and that other place, i dont remember what town i was in though in australia: my host family's house.
There used to be this great place called Fair Grounds, but it went out of buisness, so now I go all the way out to Germantown, to Lattitudes. Tis amazing.
a hip place where I live used to be a coffee shop called Coffee, Tea or Me? but it closed down like a few years ago....
What are my preferred resteraunts? (Vancouver BC) Neighbors (near king ed and oak): greek food, friendly watiress, cheap wings and pitchers, big patio Veras Burgers: just fucking delicious Shabusen: my favourite sushi in town There was a really good vegetarian burger place too, i'm trying to remember the name.
http://www.sangabrielvalleymenus.com/topsburgers/ My housemate is partial to TOPS (I think he just likes the name). Like anyone really needs to consume a ¼-lb cheeseburger with pastrami, chili cheese fries and a piña colada or orange bang. http://www.yelp.com/biz/7a2WR6O9IWakCLJQlqwb2g For my $money, if I'm going to clog my arteries I'd choose The Hat !
during the 70's in Amsterdam, as far as i can remember, the hippest eatery was the hare krishna free sunday lunch at the ashram......
Come on OnlyOne, you're a traveler. Tell us some of your favorites. Quit holding out....LOL Honestly, I would like to know if there are any Plantenist approved eateries.
