I'm wondering why you don't object to Robert "KKK" Byrd. Oh yea, thats right... he's a Democrat... he can't be racist!

I hope this newer guy gets out. Republican or not, I hate racists.

I heard about him on the radio... the only thing he's getting is attention, not a seat in Congress.

If this was a response to my entry, what gave you the impression that I liked Robert [T]urd? I don't! I consider him scum as well. BTW, I'm also not a
    Demo[n]crat, either, I'm Libertarian!

The one that allows you to protest the government mui.

This brings back memories of Geogre Wallace.

Then tell us why there will be protesters in NYC at the RNC?

This country isn't as free as it should be and there are folks who want to continue the downward trend, but it still is free. If it wasn't, we wouldn't have this thread to post in or this website to post on. If you want to know what freedoms we have, talk to to any Russian who got out of the Rodina during the time of Soviet power. Or an East German. Or someone from mainland China. Or North Korea. They can tell you because they now enjoy those freedoms.

Geogre...:X heh heh. Did you mean George? Orge certainly fit him early in his political life. But he seemed to have a change of heart later on.

You're only allowed to protest as long as you do it the way THEY say you can, sign their permits, stand behind their barricades, and so on. They can't just blatantly stop all protests, that would be too obvious and they need to keep up with this illusion of freedom in order to keep suckers believing we still have rights. Do you think early americans could have won their independence by standing outside a king-appointed governor's house with signs and speeches?

Besides, comparing our lack of freedom to another country's former lack of freedom doesn't justify any damn thing. Yeah, we have this website to post on, but not without being monitored. You can't even buy certain books in this country without having to add your name and SSN to a list for the gov't.

What's funny about that is a few months ago I saw a commercial (one of those "freedom" comercials") with a guy going into a library and asking for a particular book, then being taken away for it. They try to play it off as if that shit isn't already happening.

But there is a protest. Thanks for making my point for me. Very kind of you.;)

And what exactly in my post gave you the idea I was attempting to justify something[IMG]

People have protested in china and russia, but yet you brought those up as if they had no freedom. Our own protesters get beaten and jailed if they step out of line (and by out of line I mean moving too far from the sidewalk, not breaking windows) they get fired at with "non-lethal" bullets and gassed in the face......I guess if YOU wanna call that freedom you're more than welcome to, I'm glad to have helped you "prove" your point. Nothing says freedom like a rubber bullet in the neck, or a metal baton crashing against your skull.

the fact that you brought them up as less-free-than-this-country examples. Why would you need to bring them up in a discussion about amerikan freedom, if you weren't trying to say "hey, at least we aren't as bad as these guys used to be!"

I'm sure the people from the photos on this site are very happy with what you call freedom.

Nice rant...BUT... you still have a protest, which was my point. Period. You added all the other and tried to tie me to it. Sorry, I ain't holdin that bag, babe. And you still haven't said what I was trying to justify (example does not equal justification). Instead, again, you added stuff and tried to put it on me. Sorry again. Above all of that, you assume that I have made a statement of what I call freedom. You're pretty good at reading what isn't there. Do you write fiction?

And you also assume to know my mind on what my thoughts are of actions taken against protesters who are doing nothing more than exercising their guaranteed right of freedom of expression. Do you read minds as well as write fiction?

And you assume that I must be something akin to a facist, neo-con, right-wing, card-carrying Ku Klux Klanner because I don't start frothing at the mouth saying this country has no freedoms. (Or at least that's what my take on your posts is.)

At any rate, this, although stimulating, is off-topic, so enjoy having the last word. Buh bye.:sunglasse

Oh, final word... why don't you try linking me to the attrocities in Sudan for good measure. Be sure to use visual aids.

I don't need to read minds, you words are more than enough. :) You said we had freedom because people are gonna protest the RNC. Nevermind the fact that many of them will be jailed for practicing one of their supposed rights, just the fact that they'll even be there is proof enough of our freedom.

hmm, I don't remember saying that....so now who's doing the mind-reading and ASSuming shit? I don't really feel like fighting, and I wasn't trying to tie you to anything. I just don't see how you can say that we have a "right" to protest while protesters get shot at and beaten. We have that freedom on paper just so our politicians can brag about our "free" country and fool the average citizen into believing it's true, but in reality it doesn't mean shit. If you feel like my saying that is somehow putting something on you, I'm terribly sorry.

And do tell, what was your point in bringing up russia, germany, NK, and china if you were not comparing their former lack of freedom to our current situation? Were you bored and just decided to randomly add those countries to your post for no reason?

"If you want to know what freedoms we have, talk to to any Russian who got out of the Rodina during the time of Soviet power. Or an East German. Or someone from mainland China. Or North Korea."

It's kinda hard to call it fiction when the words came straight from your fingertips, don't cha think?
