I have warts, they developed after I met my current wife, I hadn't had sex in a little over a year before meeting her, she doesn't have any, nor does she display any symptoms. We've had unprotected sex for several years now, so my question is are these HPV (genital warts)? or some other kind? If they are HPV why do I have them and she doesn't? I'm confused.

i think they can just develop and spread.

    go to ur GP.

I had one ward a while back and i used regular wart gell (Bazukka) on it but I was very presice about where I put it. It did the job for me.

Well, analist... Are you even sure they are warts? I'd check and see if they are "pearly penile papules"(hope I got the spelling right, lol), if I were you. They are very different from warts, though, many people mistake them for an STD. Pearly penile papules are benign form of skin growths, small little bumps, that have a way of forming a row on the underside of penis, just below the glans. They are not contageous, they are just..there.

BUT, if you DO, in fact, have warts, they are caused by a virus and CAN and WILL spread, if undealt with. Like I said, just know what you have before doing something stupid like trying to remove them harmless "PPP's" thinking they were warts.

    Good luck.

Why worry? See a doc. Beats loosing sleep and a growing resentment of the little woman! We here are NOT medical experts. Nor do we diagnose like Dr. Frist, by TV or computer hearsay. Repeat: see a doc, see a doc, see a doc, see...........

I have HPV, not the warts, but the high risk cancer kind. This DOES NOT mean your wife cheated. HPV can stay dormant for years and years. Most people have this virus but don't show any symptoms. Your wife may have it but never have an outbreak. Go to a doctor ASAP. Do not try to treat it yourself.

Many people have HPV and spread them to others and have no clue, it is not something which is tested for unless you ask, it actually poses your wife MUCH more threat than to you...

If you contract both types of HPV as a female, you are hundreds of times more likely to have reproductive cancers (all types)

Scary but true... look it up, and if she hasnt been tested for them she should be, and if she doesnt have one type or another, she should get vaccinated...

Look at the other thread where they just approved the new HPV vaccine...

    Cheers!

Some people are BORN with HPV. Something like 70% of women have HPV...some don't even know it. Although you can also get HPV as a STD, it doesn't always produce warts.

You need to talk to your girlfriend about getting tested for HPV. There are two kinds she might have. The first kind is the kind that produces the warts...they come and go too...they aren't always there, but the virus always is. The second kind is the kind that produces cervical cancer and other forms of cancer. Either way, she needs to know what she has so that she is aware of what is going on with her body.

No one is born with HPV... you are transmitted HPV through the mother just as are children who are born to mothers who have HIV/AIDS... because Its a virus.. If you know you have HPV or another virus and are pregnant, although the risk of contracion is not eliminated, it can be reduced to almost nothing by C-section...

as for the cancer, you are at a significantly higher risk of it if you carry both types of HPV...

    either way get it checked...

LOL.. ok maybe I didnt make it clear enough... its NOT genetic, its a contractible virus... and just because you pass through the birth canal of someone who does have it doesnt guarantee you get it... thats all I meant

    :p

you can be a carrier and have no symptoms. They reckon most people have been exposed to the virus in their sexual lifetime
