Number 1: You didn't read my last post correctly.

This means that there is no difference between

A) A 21 year old man sleeping with a 16 year old

B)A 40 year old man sleeping with a 16 year old

These two scenarios are the same thing. A man sleeping with a minor. It doesn't matter if there 40 or 20. The point I was making was to dispell the dirty old man myth. People always use a "40 year old man" example when debating age of sexual consent. Is there really any difference between 20 and 40, yes.... the 40 year old generally has a lot harder time getting laid because he's usually over the hill and out of shape!

Actually the fusion of the epyphiseal plates also does mean that someone becomes emotionally more mature. It causes massive changes in brain chemistry that causes them to be more sophisticated and have better comprehention and cognitive thinking abilities. The changes that take place during puberty and when it ends are a hell of a lot more than simply physical ones.... obviously.(that's why you notice changes in behavoir with adolescents, rather than simply physical ones.

While I agree that there should be laws that that protect children from sexual predators, there is a gray are when it comes to teenagers. Should it be 13? 14? 17? - That’s hard to say due the great variability between people. There are mature 16 and 17 year olds that are perfectly capable of having a healthy sexual relationship and I've met a few 40 year olds who aren't.

As to emotional maturity - that's another issue. I'm in my 30's and I can pass for my 20's any day of the week. I still feel and act youthful. All I can say is that I find girls’ sexually attractive starting around 15-16. If that makes me a pervert in someone’s eyes - I really don't give a shit. I say take some lessons in evolutionary biology. Look at history and life expectancy - 30 or 40 was once a decent life achievement. My personal opinion: This applies to myself, and myself alone, so don't shit yourself.
It depends. If the woman is able to tell the person that it's okay to have sex with them, then NO it's not considered rape. But if the person is, oh lets say...catatonic; then YES it is rape. Since this person is not able to consent. Do you have a problem with morality? Do you have a problem with the well-being of others? Do you have a problem of how it may effect someone. This is cause and effect.

Here's my input on this subject:
It should be legal for a person to have sex with anyone over-age......if the younger one is 16 years of age or older, which is the case in a lot of states. Some people might see it wrong, imprudent, disgusting and whatnot.....but if a 16 year old is more mature than others arond his/her age....and is attracted to more mature people, say, 21-24 or 25.....so be it. They both know what they're doing, they both got themselves into this, and it's their lives, if the sex is not forced onto the other person......if both agree to have sex/have a relationship, it's THEIR choice, if they seem happy, let 'em be....horray for them, no legal issues need to be brought up!

I admit that a 16 year old in a relationship with someone 10 years older, then that's getting a little wrong, but it still is their decision. it's not rape.....they both want it.

They both have jobs, live on their own(should be), and pay their own bills. By the age of 21, young men or women have been full legal adults for 3 years. Your average person views 21 as still a "kid" because they are so much older. My grandmother views her 50 year old friend as a kid because she's in her mid 80s, does that mean that the 50 year old is a "kid". Of course not. For example, in the 1950s, parents would think it was great if a 16 year old dated a 40 year old RICH man. This was the CULTURE. Many cultures, mostly in Europe, are perfectly accepting of a 16 year old dating a 40 year old. The general public in Denmark would think there is nothing wrong with a man marrying a 16 year old. They'd think it was sweet. Your average American would think it was rape. There not so foolish as americans to view people in there mid to late teens as children. Clearly, there are no phycologists who would state that anyone over the age of 13 is a child. They would refer to them as adolescents.

The greatest example of a stupid cultural taboo would be homosexuality. Just a few years ago homosexuality was a huge taboo as you all know. People thought it was depraved, sick, disgusting, and a sin that should be made illegal(the sodomy laws). In fact, during the 70s many phyc texts had homosexuality listed as a mental disease! This was a reflection of a culture that was repressive of normal human sexuality. In the past few years there's been a HUGE shift in the way people view homosexuality. The same thing will hopefully happen one day when it comes to teenagers and sex, but currently it's going the opposite way with the age more likely to be raised than lowered.

If the general public was wrong about one thing, what's to stop them from being wrong again? History is destined to repeat itself. Almost nobody in the 1920s, would question if pre-marital sex was ok. Everyone was in agreement that it was a sin. Many religious nut jobs still feel this way today. Throughout history, the general public has been wrong. Hammurabi tought us this a long time ago. Are you aware that porn was illegal in the United States up till about 20 years ago. People used to goto copenhagen denmark to get their porn! Denmark is one of the few countries that is actually comfortable with sex and doesn't see it as dirtys.

When somebody talks about morality, there saying there is no victim.
There's really no case you can make to say there' no victim when you shoot or rape someone


Morality laws include things like postiution(the police even call it moral crimes), co-habitation, fornication(yes pre-marital sex is still illegal in many states), laws on pornagraphy, marujuana laws, laws against being gay(sodomy), laws on legal age of sexual consent(in some countries it's as high as 21). In many arab countries, a woman can be stoned to death for cheating on her husband or lying about being a virgin when marrying her husband. These are all morality laws.
