Polling only large organised religious systems here, not atheist or secular societies. And we're polling only your opinion, based on what you perceive to be 'buddhism', 'hinduism', etc... Also no religion is massive and static and singularly well defined. But we use them here as such though, just for the sake of clarity. Which religious system (as you see and understand it) is most tolerant towards sexuality (as you understand and define it).
I dont think any of them are! Thats one of the problems with all religions, which ever one, they like to tell you how to live your life. None of them are very big on civil liberties.
well, i do beleive the kama stura includes a section on sexuallity Im pretty sure there are no christian, jewish or muslim books that do so not sure about buddhism
Well, technically Buddhism isn't really a religion except for the actual 8% or so in China who consider it one. The mainstream buddhism today is just a philosophy, not an organized religion
Out of the options you listed, I'd say Buddhism. Overall though, the Unitarian Universalists are extremely tolerant (but then they are a conglomerate church made up of buddhists, humanists, pagans, and radical christians.) Most pagan religions are extremely sexually liberal.
Hinduism has a big focus on sex, much more than Catholicism or any other religion. The Karma Sutra is a result of Hinduism. To say Catholicism is just plain silly. Just because you don't condone contreception, doesn't mean you're sex mad.
I'd have to say Osho (Rajneesh followers) were the most liberal about sex. In fact, it seems that's what that whole thing was all about. Liberating the soul thru sexual exploration, or some such. Rajneesh was a very high dude. But his ppl had some serious problems...
Hinduism has the Kama Sutra, and then it has all those temples in India where various dieties and other beings are sculpted ALL OVER in exotic sexual positions....
thats stupid, catholics have to avoid sex before marrige(trust me my mom gives me talks...all the time)
How come Buddhism is getting so many votes? I think the people voting for Buddhism don't really understand what most orders of Buddhism promote. And have you seen the carvings on ancient Hindu temples?
Satanism. Although I disagree with Satanists on many counts, mostly becuase it is centered around greed, they even admit it, one of their main beliefs is to satisfy all of your desires, including sexual. During ceremonies, they even have women pose in erotic positions to arrose the men.
I'd go with any of the following: -The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster -Church of the Subgenius -Satanism -Cthulhu worship -and my personal favorite, Discordianism. ...but if you prefer something a little more mainstream, I'd roll with Taoism. If it has to be from the list, Hinduism by is by a small stretch.
I'm a Unitarian Universalist and a Pagan, and Peculiar Girl is right, although Hinduism is also quite tolerant.
