I dont eat meat for about a year and now I want to stop with the milk. How to do this? I mean... What should I eat more & stuff. Thanks
I drink and cook with soymilk. You might want to try several to see which is best for you. many people like one brand of this or that milk, but hate another brand. Milks can be made from grains and nuts other than soy. Rice and Almond milk are widely available. See what you like. I was raised on skim cow's milk so I watered down my soymilk at first. Hopefully you aren't getting your protein from milk and cheese. These are high in fat and make the switch harder. You really don't have to worry about calcium. Soy milk is comparabe to cow's milk in calcium absorption. Cow's milk has more calcium in it, but it also has animal protein which inhibits the absorption of calcium. You can eat dark leafy greens and drink calcium-fortified orange juice or eat calcium-fortified cereals. Weight-bearing exercise is also one of the best things for your bones. Get out in the sun and walk the dog
Soymilk is a savior.. I hate milk! They make soy cheese and soy ice cream too and stuff. If you're worried about calcium, take calcium pills or multi-vitamins (they usually have calcium in them). Thats the only reason dairy is good for you really, and some protein, but soymilk products and many other products have that.
I hate soymilk. Can't stand the stuff. However, I don't like cow's milk, either, so no biggy. WANT to stop, that's the key to stopping anything. So many of us have stopped doing drugs, drinking, smoking, eating meat, eating cheese, eating milk chocolate-you CAN do this, and you have a wonderful support group, just solidify your desire to stop, and it'll be a journey, though easier. xoxo
Soy milk is my favorite too. The low-cal, non vanilla flavored version isn't nearly as thick as the vanilla... which reminds me of milkshakes. Almond milk is sooooo good! I use it when cooking sweet foods, but that's about the only time I can afford it. Though during the late summer, I make my own It is so good in oatmeal! love, mom
The soy milk I buy has more calcium than full cream dairy milk, and waay less fat. I never used to like the taste as a kid but now I love it.
First days I've hate soy milk, now my breakfast is always with it, I like it. Not the same for rice milk, too much sweet. I don't miss milk or cheese, for nothing. And when I was lacto-ovo I was a milk and italian cheese lover... If you have a deep convinction nothing is impossible :H
I bought some rice milk for the first time today. it's really nice. Similar in taste to soy milk but a lot sweeter.
i guess i'm alone in professing my absolute adoration (and probably addiction) to rice dream ive drank four glasses of the stuff today so far... but i guess as i hate soymilk thats probably a good thing that i like some kind of non-dairy drink.
