I would really like to know (as well as most of the other forum stoners) just how I can get those great lungs that I and every other toker would die for. I can't hold in very much smoke anymore. I used to be able to cash a 1g bowl in one hit, and hold it in for as long as I wanted to (or until I passed out). But, no more. All I really want is to be able to hold my hit. What are your methods for making your lungs stronger/making it easier to hold a hit? PS. Dont tell me about ice notches and cold water in my bong. It doesnt get any more basic than that.
yea, taking a gram hit and keeping it down? i call bullshit. a gram is like 3 bowl packs in your average sized glass spoon. you can roll a small blunt with a gram, it wont be fat, but it will be enough to support a phillies end to end. if you could take that all in one hit, i would be extremely shocked. i mean think about the biggest bong rip or gravity toke you ever toke, one so big that you felt like you were going to throw up....then think about how little weed it takes to take one bong rip....well, well less than a gram. that aside, the only way to improve your lung capacity is cardiovascular excersise.
decongestants will also improve your lung capacity since reason the lungs are smaller is mostly the buildup of tar and the like. but exercise is still most effective. also try menthol lollies and a steam-chamber (where you put essential oils in some water and boil the water, inhaling the vapour - dislodges lots of shit)
Stand up while taking the hit i have noticed I always can take bigger puffs this way... maybe its all in the weed...the more dense the column of smoke will be the easiest it will be to inhale and hold. So the herb has to burn really fast...So powdered and very dry weed with a torch lighter would help. But im pretty sure you know this. and when you clear the bowl, re inhale your puff make it go the deepest as possible and lift up your diafragm. If it seems to wanna come out, dont cough, resist and make the funny noise with your nose. damn a gram hit...ive never been higher than 1/4 gram hit and its pretty much my limit

they're talking about capacity for the hit, not ability to endure the harshness of it. like others said, cardiovascular exercise would be the way to do it.
I used to smoke pure hash chillums. 1g is just about smokable in a hit. But whatever exercising you do won't help your lungs smoking that amount. Take it easy you don't need to smoke that much at once.
go running! i am a runner (gasp!) and i can hold a hit in for like a minute. i dont smoke a bong or pipe that often. using a vaporizer helps ur lungs take bigger hits/ hold them in longer when u do smoke
of course while 1 gram is doable, its not really standard so you shouldnt feel bad about not being able to smoke it
1 gram is kinda hard to believe, I can see it happening maybe out of a waterfall or gravity bong. But I'm not here to question your truthfulness. I read somewhere saying that you really don't need to hold the hit in for so long because most of the smoke is just tar and shit, so if you try and ghost smoke it, all of that crap would be in your lungs. I think it also said that you should get most of the THC out of the smoke in like the first 10 seconds.
I was just using that as a base example, being that what I used to be able to do I can't do anymore. No more hub-bub about me holding in a 1g hit, thats not the point. I wanna hold hits!
I tend to drag the hit out longer. instead of sucking it in really fast, I'll take a nice slow hit. seems to help me anyway
