Im gonna mention Led Zeppelin because I really like their music but I've seen old videos of them performing live and they really weren't that great live. I was a little shocked because there is a big difference between their recorded stuff as opposed to their live stuff. Any one else have any?
Well, I never really liked them to begin with, but I saw them since they opened up for the Stones, and I'd have to say Maroon 5 was pretty bad.
haha, are you kidding me? I'm not even a zeppelin fan but they could definately rip it up live. pre-77ish mainly, but they had their moments afterward.
You must have watched some rare footage cause from what I seen Zeppelin killed live! Stairway to Heaven from the Song Remains the Same DVD is one of the greatest performances. They do change it up a lot but its just becouse Page and Bonham are the 2 best musicians at what they do in my opinion.
Well I must have seen some bad videos because every song I heard on the live performances sounded off key. And don't get me wrong I love Zeppelin but I was a bit dissapointed that they didn't sound as good as I though they would live.
I don't know if watching them in videos is the same, but when I was watching early videos of The Guess Who performing, I thought they were awful.
What "old" videos have you seen...? I think you went into viewing Zeppelin live with the wrong expectations... If you imagined the songs to sound the same as they do on record then you're bound to be let down... That was the whole beauty of Led Zeppelin.. Every performance was unique.. Even if the set-list remained the same, the songs rarely did.. One word. Improvisation.
I figured thats why I was so dissapointed. I expected too much. But I still consider them lacking in the performing live department.
everything I've ever seen of Led Zeppelin live was totally phenomenal....nothing bad or disappointing about it at all
Expected too much?! You mean when you see a band live all you want them to do is perfectly replicate their albums? What's the point of that? I'd like to hear your argument for them 'lacking' in the live department and back it up with examples...
