You can smoke them after 5 days, but really they taste better after 2 weeks. Just hang the colas upside down and leave them in a airy place for 7 days .I then put them into old cardboard cerial boxes. This slows down the last little bit of drying. You can leave them there indefinitely the longer they are left the better the taste.
hang the colas upside down and leave them in a airy place for 7 days Does that have to be dark? Could i keep it in my bedroom with a window open? thanks
Cut the buds off the plants as soon as harvested. Place the buds in a supermarket-style paper bag. Crimp the top. Open the bag and gently "comb" the buds with your fingers everyday. When they're almost dry enough to smoke, seal in a mason jar/tupperware etc. and open everyday for 5 minutes, then re-seal. This second part is called "curing". It will make the buds taste better, smoother, the bud will smell better and potency increases by 30%. It takes at least 2 weeks (4 is better). Once you smoke slow dried cured weed, you'll never go back to that hay-tasting shit.
Dark is better. Yes you could hang them in your bedroom. You would'nt even need to open your window. Handle the colas carefully to protect those valuable trichomes. Everybody has there own drying methods. The main thing being don't dry to quickly plus the bud tastes better with time.
If its excessively humid you could put a fan on but I never bother. Close your curtains and keep an eye on the buds by the third day they should start to look dry but it should take between five and seven days before they are smokable. If its comfortable for you in the house its shouldn't be to hot to dry the buds. Its not an exact science just make sure that don't dry to quickly and that they don't go mouldy. After seven days put them in a paper bag or cardboard box to slow down the drying (cure) the buds. They should start to taste better after two weeks.
If you don't seal them air-tight during the cure, the buds will get too dry. In fact, if you don't seal them, they aren't curing. Buds should be stored at the same moisture level as other plants people smoke--like tobacco. A cigar kept in a humidor, or a tin of pipe tobacco, or a fresh pack of cigs, that's how moist pot should be kept at, NOT crispy dry. Ever smoke a crispy dry cig? Yeeeccchhh.
Your right rangerdanger. Its just my buds don't stay around long enough to encounter this problem. When buds have reached optimum dryness after approx 2 weeks for longer term storage you should seal them up. As Rangerdanger says they will continue to cure.
