Stranger things has happened than USA winning the World Cup (I agree, not this year - not that I'm knowable about these things). Whenever it does happens, nobody will believe that it occurred.

The finest football player I ever met was an Orangutang called twinkle toes.

Man, i'm really ticked off. I was all psyched to watch the World Cup (I love it!), and they were actually gonna show it on a channel I can pull in (having neither cable nor satelllite, I rely on an old fashioned antenna)

And they're pre-empting the cup games for some bogus golf tourney. WTF WTF WTF!

Anyway, I did at least get to see the Mexico-Iran game. Kinda dissapointing. I wanted to see Iran win.

In reply to your original question, buffoonman, it depends on where you are. Some regions of the country people may not even know that the tourney is going down, or really don't care. I live in Miami, which is of course full of latins who, of course, love football. There is a restaurant here owed by a czech guy that is showing the games. I might go there for lunch tomorrow for the US-Czech match. (But that might be embarrasing if we lose.) Around here in Miami there is a fair bit of excitement, but it pales in comparison to the basketball because our city's team is in the national championship (I won't say "world" championship, because I agree, that is a retarded claim to make.) The two competitions make for a lot of good sport, though.

Yeah, that shit sucked. We have to beat italy now, but of course the itais are gonna kick our ass. Fortunately I have to work Saturday, cause if I sat there and watched the game I would probably slit my wrists. You know we have never won a game on European soil in the WC. Such hopes, dashed.

yea.. i dont really pay too much attention to soccer.. but all these other countries talk about how soccer is way better than american sports and such because its not tainted and whatnot... but i was watching a show awhile back talking about how Euro league soccer is more or less destroyed because some russian went out and scouted and payed like $300+million for the best players he could possibly find...

Thats right a Russian Billionaire called Abromavic bought Chelsea within three years they have come from nowhere to being one of best teams in Europe. He spent hundreds of millions in these three years outbidding all teams for any players that came up for sale.
In Italy the whole football league is in meltdown due to match fixing, players ,managers and many others have been implicated. Even Italys manager has questions to answer.
