Depo provera fucked me up. Really bad. I only took two shots and it was terrible. Weight gain, loss of libido, drastic mood changes, depression. I didn't get my period for 9 months and I had terrible stomach pains the whole time.

I'll stick to the pill, thank you very much.

i had two shots...i got the second one a little early to try to stop the spotting. but after six months of this nasty brown spotting, no sex drive, and no alleviation of my pcos, i gave it up. when i was on yasmin (sp?) everything was really good.

Just to add my two cents as well..Depo was the worst thing I could have even been on. I went on it 6 weeks after I had my son and stayed on it for almost 3 years. It took almost a full year to get my cycle back..but while I was on it I gained weight, never wanted sex, had the worst cramps (and I had never really had them before), you name it, It was wrong with me :)~I ahve heard it can ultimately take years for some people to get totally back to normal after you stop it. I would never reccomend it, and would personally warn people against it. There are so many other alternatives out there...I'm glad to hear you chose to get off the Depo.

my girlfriend is on it... she's gonna stop next month though... she's gained weight, no bleeding from what i know... but she gets depressec all the time. when she was on the patch she never use to be down like this. which in turn is killing our sex life... so yeah. she's stopping it. probably going back to the patch.

I did this for 6 months.. HORRID experiance for me, I was miserable.. People would look at me and I would snap I was so moody.. I am looking into a IUD right now.. Tired the pill I am horriable at doing that daily.. Patch kept coming off..lol.. So the IUD is my next choice, the nice thing about it, you dont feel its, its good for up to ten years and it basically stops your periods too..

Issym, you could also try the ring/nuvaring... you insert it once a month, remove it after three weeks... same hormones as the pill/patch but an easier, more memorable application method

Have to say was the worst thing I ever did. Made me ill as fuck for the most part. Having b/c was pointless because my boyfriend and I fought so much we weren't even having sex. And when we were, I was constantly on my period! Hated the bitch. Will never EVER do depo again and strongly advise against it!!!!!!!!!!

I have been on it for 11 years now. The only thing that make me spot are when I get stressed real bad and certain meds that I take for when I get a cold. But It has been great for me. Now some people i know could not be on it. So I guess it depends on the body if it works or not. I LOVE IT.

I got 3 shots - gained lots of weight. Was able to go back on the Pill no problem. Have a friend who is having trouble getting pregnant again after a few years of shots, and not having had one for a couple of years. She is in her late 30's - so, who know's.
